2. Installing the Game

a.) Installing FIFA 09

Windows (disc users):

* Insert the disc into your disc drive and follow the on-screen instructions.
* Once the game has installed you can launch it by locating the game through the
Start menu.
* Games on Windows Vista� are located in the Start > Games menu and on earlier
versions of Windows in the Start > Programs
(or All Programs) menu.

Windows (EA Store users):

* Once the game has been downloaded by EA Download Manager, click the install
icon that appears and follow the on-screen
instructions.
* Launch the game (once it is installed) directly from the EA Download Manager.

In Windows Vista� Classic Start menu style, games are located in the Start >
Programs > Games > Games Explorer menu.

Please contact the digital retailer through whom you purchased this game for
instructions on how to install the game or how
to download and reinstall another copy of the game.

If for some reason your "Autorun" feature is disabled, you can install the program
by running AUTORUN.EXE
directly from the root directory of the DVD.

3. DirectX� 9.0c

DirectX� 9.0c will be installed as part of the EA SPORTS� FIFA 09 installation.

a.) Installing DirectX� directly from DVD

FIFA 09 comes with DirectX� 9.0c. If you would like to install it manually, make
sure the FIFA 09 DVD is in the
DVD-ROM drive, and access the following path on your DVD-ROM drive:

We recommend that FIFA 09 be run with DirectX� 9.0c compatible sound cards and

4. Uninstalling FIFA 09

For Windows XP, you can uninstall FIFA 09 by accessing "Add/Remove Programs" in
the Control Panel.
For Windows Vista�, you can uninstall FIFA 09 by accessing "Programs and Features"
in the Control Panel.

5. Memory Requirements

FIFA 09 requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM to run the game (1 GB required for
Windows Vista�).

Note: The more system memory available, the better the game will perform in all

gameplay. We are always pushing the
envelope of computer performance. While we have made every effort to ensure that
FIFA 09 multi-tasks with all
applications for Windows, we recommend that you shut down other applications and
run FIFA 09 by itself when possible.

We recommend that you let your operating system automatically manage the amount of
virtual memory.

6. Improving Game Speed

There are several ways by which you can speed up the overall FIFA 09 experience:

a.) Lower the resolution in Game Settings in My FIFA 09.

b.) Lower the level of detail in Game Settings in My FIFA 09.
c.) Lower the shader quality in Game Settings in My FIFA 09.
d.) Turn off (in Game Settings in My FIFA 09):
3D Grass
Postprocessing Quality
Depth of field
Referee
Linesman
e.) Disable the radar in Game Settings.
f.) Turn the Commentary Volume all the way down in Game Settings.

8. Mouse, Keyboard and Controller Functionality

You can use the mouse, keyboard or controller to navigate the game interface.

Once you are on the Side select screen, you must move whichever input device you
plan to use in the game to the
left or the right to select your team.

Please note that you may have to recalibrate your controllers in Windows in order
to have the game detect them

correctly.

To bring up the in-game pause menus, you can press the Start button (if your
gamepad has one) or press ESC.

You can re-map your controls to customise your game experience from the Controls
screen in My FIFA 09. Please
note that when using digital only gamepads you should not change the �Move Player�
setting to �Analog� as this
could cause undesirable effects in gameplay.

The use of a 360�-degree dual analog gamepad such as the Logitech Dual Action is
highly recommended for full

functionality.

FIFA 09 also supports the use of the mouse to control gameplay actions. Up to a 5
button mouse can be used, and
controls can be configured in the Controls screen.

10. Notes on Video Card Chipsets

If you are experiencing problems with your video card and FIFA 09, try updating
your video card driver
by downloading the latest driver available from the video card manufacturer. If
there is no improvement,
try using the latest driver provided by the video chipset manufacturer. Your video
card chipset is the
video-processing chip located on your video card. If there is no information in
your video card manual
or website, check the video card for an identifying chip with the chipset
manufacturer's name on it.

13. Troubleshooting USB Devices
=
============================================================

Gamers using USB devices may experience uncontrolled menu selections upon playing
FIFA 09. To resolve this
issue, please ensure that all USB devices (including those not required to play
FIFA 09) plugged into the
computer have been correctly installed using the drivers provided by the
m
manufacturer.

If proper drivers are not provided by the manufacturer, you may choose to disable
any of these devices using
the Device Manager in your Windows operating system. To open Device Manager, click
Start, select Settings, and
then click Control Panel. Double-click on the System icon. On the Hardware tab,
click Device Manager. For
information about using Device Manager, on the Action menu in Device Manager,
click Help.
