Abughaliah Sep 17, 2013 Summary Draft #2 ''Outsourcing the Mind'' English Comp, AC2 Outsourcing the Mind The author of this article is Gerd Gigerenzer whose article's title is '' Outsourcing the Mind''. This article was written in 1989. The author's central idea in this article is mainly about our minds and how technology has changed our way of thinking and how it has affected our minds positively and negatively when wanting to find new information. Gigerenzer (1989), in his article started telling about his experience in fall 1989 at the Center of Advanced Study when there was no technology in his personal office at all. The author believes that this idea was very helpful because it just made people use their own brains to find a solution for their problems. Next, the author describes the situation of people in the meantime and how technology has affected their daily lives and how it has become the most essential among the other inventions. Gigerenzer believes that using the internet actively can change our way of thinking. He also explains how the internet affects our inside thinking because our minds just found an easier way to find the information we need by using the internet. After that, the author s moved on and started discussing other types of invention, which are writing and the printing press. He agrees that writing has made our lives
