he world is !ast growing and this growth has brought numerous con!licts and controversies with itsel!. It is a !act that when "eo"le grow and became aware they get to #now their rights and thus tend to !ight !or their rights. $ust %uiet recently a controversy aroused in Saudi Arabia which engul!ed the whole world& than#s to the social media and technology the entire world #nows about the issue. In Saudi Arabia women have ta#en a big ste" towards revolution. hey are ready to !ight !or their rights& !ighting to get their right to drive cars. Saudi women want to drive cars' they have the right to drive and they want to have this right bestowed to them. his ste" !rom the Saudi women is one o! the most "rominent and widely #nown issues !aced by the Saudi government these days& and due to globali(ation the entire world has come to #now about this "roblem between the government and the women in Saudi Arabia. he main reason the government is denying this !reedom to the women is that it is not a""roved by the traditions and culture o! Saudi Arabia though it is very much allowed in their religion which is Islam. he actual reason is not that it is something which is not "ermitted in Islam in !act the actual issue is that society and tradition o! Saudi Arabia are %uiet conservative& it is against the traditions o! Saudi Arabia& yet still the women are !ighting !or their rights which is a""reciable. Women o! Saudi Arabia have been as#ing !or the right to drive since years but the government has been denying it since years by saying that driving is something that is "rohibited in Islam. While the government o! Saudi Arabia continues to stand by what they say that driving is "rohibited in Islam at the same time on the other hand the Islamic scholars gave the view that

this is %uiet wrong as Islam is a religion o! e%uality and it gives e%ual rights to men and women thus women can drive and It is not "rohibited in Islam. In s"ite o! this the government #e"t denying women the right to drive. A"art !rom this studies show that that Islam does not sto" women !rom driving and great Islamic Scholars also agree to it. Also it can be seen that in times o! )ro"het *ohammad )eace +e ,"on -im& women used to drive in those days the mode o! trans"ort being camels& this clearly shows that Islam gives women the "ermission to drive and there is no restriction whatsoever. he government o! Saudi Arabia is not doing the right thing by not letting the women drive& as it is not against the religion Islam. In !act de"riving someone o! their rights is something which is not "ermissible in Islam. Islam has always given women rights and immense im"ortance& and even in the times o! )ro"het *ohammad )eace +e ,"on -im women were actively involved in wars& acting as healers& decision ma#ing etc. *oreover reliable sources tells that +ibi Ayesha wi!e o! )ro"het *ohammad )eace +e ,"on -im directed armies while riding a camel which again "oints out towards the !act that Islam gives women the "ermission to drive. Islam is a religion o! !reedom and e%uality. Women are "ermitted to drive in Islam as long as they do not violate the "rinci"les o! the religion Islam. A"art !rom the !act that it is "ermitted in Islam !or women to drive. Another reason !or letting women drive is so that they become inde"endent and not be at the mercy o! the men in the house to ta#e them out even !or the tiniest bits o! things. I! women are given the rights to drive they would easily be able to go where ever they want without having to wait or disturb the men o! the house. Also i! a woman does not have a male at home who can drive them they !ace numerous "roblems as they cannot drive themselves. Also commuting to wor# o!ten gets hard i! one has to be de"endent on someone else to drive them. hey need a man even to go sho""ing or grocery sho""ing or to go visit a doctor and i! the man in charge in la(y or do not !eel li#e going then the women have to stay home as they cannot drive themselves because they are de"endent. hose rich enough hire driver !or their women which costs a lot. +ut then this give rise to the

"roblem that the drivers are to be trusted a lot as they have the .ob to sa!ely trans"ort the !amily members to and !ro. his de"endence may lead the driver to abuse his "ower& he way get indulged in criminal activity to get more money !rom the !amily he is wor#ing !or& this may o!ten result in the !amily members being hurt. Also this is one o! the root causes !or ra"es and crimes in Saudi Arabia. I! the women are given the "ermission to drive it would be a lot less sim"le& chea"er as well as sa!er. Also another reason !or letting women drive is that women in Saudi Arabia do not get the chance to !ully utili(e their talents and ca"abilities usually because no one can trans"ort them to college& universities or o!!ices. Also very !ew .obs are available in cities most o! they are located in the suburbs which o!ten re%uires long hours to travel to and !ro. his ban also de"rives women o! many com!orts and ma#es them de"endent. It is o! immense im"ortance that the Saudi government "ermits the women to drive& it will be "eo"le save money and time and also women will no more be at mercy o! men to even go to the nearest grocery sho". Also most o! the "eo"le who wor# as drivers are !rom !oreign countries mainly )a#istan& India etc. he !amily who hires them o!ten has to bear the cost o! getting their license made and other legal !ormalities. Also the money is trans!erred to the home country o! the drivers. So basically by giving women the "ermission to drive Saudi government may save huge amounts o! money going out o! the country as remittance. Another reason is that the drivers are to be trusted a lot as they have the .ob to sa!ely trans"ort the !amily members to and !ro. his de"endence may lead the driver to abuse his "ower& he way get indulged in criminal activity to get more money !rom the !amily he is wor#ing !or& this may o!ten result in the !amily members being hurt. Also this is one o! the root causes !or ra"es and crimes in Saudi Arabia. I! the women are given the "ermission to drive it would be a lot less sim"le& chea"er as well as sa!er. Now very recently when women had no other way the women started a new revolution using social media as their aid to get their rights. hey started ma#ing !ace boo# !an "ages& twitter "ages etc to gain more and more !ans and "eo"le who would su""ort them. +ut here again

the government intervened and sto""ed them by "utting their leader behind the bars. his caused a great u" roar around the world. So /ing Abdullah has "romised that as long as it was "ermissible in Islam he would give the women the right to drive very soon. -e had to ta#e this ste" because even he #new that they had no other o"tion as this time the women were really ready to !ight with boldness to get their rights. It is about time that Saudi government allows their !emale citi(en to drive& the world is moving at a really !ast "ace indeed and Saudi women should have as much liberty as it is "ermitted in Islam to "artici"ate in every wal# o! li!e and be success!ul. In conclusion& human rights& saving !amilies income& and #ee"ing the country !rom criminal activities are the main arguments that should encourage the government to allow women to drive in Saudi Arabia. It is the main #ey that hel"s women gains their other rights. here is no reason to "revent that es"ecially when it is not violating Islamic rules. Sometimes there is no time to as# men to drive and sometimes there are no men to as#. -owever& allowing women to drive will hel" the economy in Saudi Arabia to grow and will hel" the !amilies use their money in the right way. Also& it hel"s the "eo"le in the country to live in sa!ety and to hel" end e0"loitation& the!t& and ra"e. In the end& the entire world is waiting !or the decisive moment when the Saudi government allows women to drive. So let us give it a shot and trust the women. he government should allow the Saudi women to drive& as this will save the country !rom the increasing rate o! crime& save the money that is going out as !oreign remittance and also "rovide both men and women o! Saudi Arabia with ease. It is a human right and the Saudi government should by no mean ta#e this right away !rom its citi(ens es"ecially since this is not violating any o! the "rinci"als o! Islam. In !act it can be seen throughout Islamic history that women are given e%ual rights as men and that women were allowed to drive.
