Course Outline
Course Description
The primary objective of this course is to introduce the students to the basic concepts of Financial Market and the Financial System as a whole with emphasis on the Bangladesh perspective. This course will acquaint the students with the operation of the financial institutions in respect to the broader perspective of the flnancial system as a whole. In addition the course will also focus on the financial market operation. The various products and services in the Bangladesh financial market place will be emphasized upon.
The course from a broad perspective will address the following topics:
1.0 Functions and roles of the financial system in the global economy 2.0 Financial assets, money, financial transactions and financial institutions 3.0 The Financial information marketplace 4.0 Determinants of Interest rates 5.0 Money market, its instruments and its various roles 6.0 Capital market, its instruments and its various roles 7.0 Central Bank- Operation / Functions 8.0 Banking Industry 9.0 Non-bank financial institutions
