Client gained new insight on feelings like how he mentioned that he was scared of father for not being more of a father but in the second example, client was able to explain that he felt scared because he was afraid of getting hit. The second example led client to explore his feelings of re ection more fully, going in depth on why he felt that way. !n the first example, client wished that father gave approval and recogni"ed that he existed and merely said that he felt re ected but while he pretended to talk directly to his father, client put more responsibility on himself for the feelings, like how he thinks that he was re ected because he did not know what pleases his father. a) ! have difficulty falling asleep every night. ! feel like ! should ust use the time spent getting to sleep more productively, like doing my work or watching dramas. ! feel frustrated when ! ust stare into space feeling tired but unable to get to sleep. The next day, ! feel so lethargic and worried that ! might make mistakes at work. b) ! am lying on bed thinking what ! did today and whether ! have accomplished what ! have set out to do today. ! am worried that ! missed out something and will get into trouble tomorrow. #ometimes, ! wonder what ! have achieved in my life and how ! can make it better tomorrow. (t the same time, it will help me to be more careful and make sure ! help client in the best way possible. )hen working with a client with the same problem, it might lead to some transference and countertransference and evoke past emotions, which might not help the client. !f unaware, ! might cause client to be even more stuck as ! have not solved my unfinished business. *) ! feel guilty because ! am not doing enough at work. I feel resentful because I am not doing enough at work. ! feel guilty because ! could not help my friend more. I feel resentful because I could not help my friend more. ! feel guilty because ! waste my day away. I feel resentful because I waste my day away. +) ! might not initiate social contact because of the fear of re ection. This unreasonable fear could cause me to have thoughts like it will always happen and not risk making new friends or initiating conversation. ! can help client deal with catastrophic expectations by attempting to help clients bring the polarities into awareness and focus on the conflicts within the individual. ! could use the empty chair techni'ue to get client to externali"e the intro ect and help client to accept and integrate both sides. This help client to get in touch with a feeling or need they may be denying because of a fear. These experiences can then be owned by the person and integrated into a holistic sense of self.
