Code no.: v1a Observing competition planetarium round General instructions 1. There are 2 questions, each worth 25 points.

. You have 80 minutes to solve them, of which : (a) 20 minutes for reading the question and preparing for the o servations, ( ) 40 minutes to perform all the o servations in the planetarium (2! minutes for each questions), (c) 20 minutes for calculations and finishing "our wor#. 2. $dditional time is allowed to move to and from the planetarium. %. $long with the questions "ou will e given a map of the s#", for use with oth questions. The map is for epoch & 2!!!.!, using a polar pro'ection with a linear scale in declination, and covers stars down to a out 5th magnitude. You will also e given paper for wor#ing and notes, writing implements, a pencil sharpener and an eraser. (lease ta#e ever"thing from the des# in the first room with "ou to the planetarium dome, as "ou will e going to a different room afterwards to finish "our wor#. ). $t "our place in the dome "ou will find a torch and clip oard.
