SESSION REPORT MARCH 2014

Session met on Tuesday, March 18 at the offices of HCS. Pastor Steve led by reading from I Timothy 1:3-11 and excerpts from John Stotts, Guard the Truth. Session met from 7pm-8pm. During the Session meeting time, the Shepherding district reorganization plan was finalized and will soon be communicated to the congregation. Elder David VanDyke has accepted the position of clerk for the Session. The job of clerk requires much time on record keeping and Session felt it important to provide a smaller district for the clerk. Curriculum ideas and planning were discussed for the upcoming summer educational semester. Additional work is underway to confirm these educational offerings. Elder David VanDyke is chairing the Mission committee. A joint Elder-Deacon meeting began at approximately 8pm. The join meeting included a review of the current giving, and prospective diaconal candidates. The deacons will be penning correspondence to the congregation to ask for assistance to catch up the giving to match the budget. It was noted that there were a number of winter cancellations that impacted giving and this years budget is a challenging stretch from last years. The connection cards were discussed as a great way for the congregation to communicate prayer requests, interest in volunteering and encouragement for worship or other Cedar activities. The elders and deacons would like to encourage the congregation to use the connection cards at each service. This use may serve as an encouragement for our visitors to make use of the connection cards also. Easter breakfast planning was discussed with additional work to occur in the coming days and weeks. Time was given to shepherding matters for the congregation and prayer for the congregation. The Session meeting was adjourned at 9:55 p.m., followed by closing prayer with all session members participating, closing prayer by Pastor Steve Igo. Respectfully Submitted Craig Baker, clerk
