FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALEKOARTS TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH DALEKO ED.

New Pragues professional theatre company now offering youth classes

MARCH 21st, 2014 Following a successful inaugural season of productions in 2013, DalekoArts is excited to expand their offerings by presenting DALEKO ed., a series of summer youth theatre arts classes. DALEKO ed. offers multiple classes taught by Twin Cities theatre professionals who will help students gain a better understanding and appreciation of the performing arts. Arts education has been a part of our mission since weve had a mission, so this just makes sense, explained Artistic Director Ben Thietje. Were really looking forward to serving the community in this meaningful way. YOUTH IMPROV 101 will be offered for one week in June, July and August, each week for a different age group: grades 1-4, 58 and 9-12 respectively. In this class, students will be able to explore the world of improvisation through games and exercises while stretching their imagination and gaining confidence. Students will work on team building, thinking on their feet and listening to their scene partner with instructor Bobby Gardner, company member of both DalekoArts and the Brave New Workshop. Instructor Christine Karki, DalekoArts company member and professional actor, director and educator in the Twin Cities, will be teaching STORY THEATRE the week of June 9th for students in grades 1-4. In this class students will learn and hone their acting skills by playing theatre games and creating a short play to be performed at the end of the final class. Karki will also teach BROADWAY BOUND, a musical theatre class, for students in grades 5-8 the week of June 16th. In this class students will learn popular musical theatre songs and fun choreography while creating their own play to be performed during the final class. FUNDAMENTALS OF STAGE COMBAT will be offered for two age groups, grades 5-8 and 9-12, on Saturdays in June and July. In this class students will learn how the basics of unarmed combat are used on stage, such as how to safely throw punches and kicks. Young performers will explore the ideas of balance, timing, reaction and spatial awareness with instructor Josh Scharback, a classically trained Shakespearean actor, graduate of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art and DalekoArts company member. Each class is a total of 15 hours and costs $180. Registration is currently open online at www.dalekoarts.com/ed and enrollment is limited to 12 students per class.
