Either the individual preset or
the split architecture system can be
configured to deliver or receive a
straight product, deliver a sequentially
blended product or a ratio blended
product through each loading arm.
When using sequential blending up to
six products can be sequentially
blended through a loading arm.
Ratio blending, one product per
meter, a maximum of six components
per loading arm may be blended
simultaneously.

Sequential Blending
Sequential blending is loading
multiple products, one at a time, into
a vessel (e.g., a tanker truck). This is
most commonly done with products
that mix well.
AccuLoad III accomplishes sequential
blending of multiple products in the
following manner. The percentage of
each product is designated in the
recipe as a percentage of the total
preset. These percentages must total
100%. When the operator enters the
preset, the AccuLoad automatically
calculates the actual volumes of each
product to be delivered based on the
recipe. Each of these is delivered as a
type of mini-batch, complete with
individual high flow rates, first trip
volumes, and so on. The order of
product delivery must be included in
the recipe definition and is controlled
by the preset opening and closing
block valves in proper sequence.
If an incorrect product volume is
delivered, the volumes of the remain-
ing products are adjusted accordingly.
If this adjustment creates a blend
error alarm, the operator will be
prompted to stop or continue the batch.
Ratio Blending
Ratio blending is the process of
mixing multiple products simulta-
neously during delivery to a vessel
(e.g., a tanker truck). Ratio blending
is used primarily when loading
speed is an issue, or when the com-
ponents products do not mix well.

Unloading
Overview
AccuLoad III offers an optional
software package designed specially for
unloading transports. The AccuLoad
controls the off-load pumps in con-
junction with an air eliminator and
metering system as shown the diagram
below.
The equipment includes; the
AccuLoad III, meter, control valve an
air eliminator equipped with the Smith
Model DE-3 electronic air release
system and S50-D density sensor.
The pump control and rate control are
defined by the position of the three
float switches including bulk air or
begin/end conditions of the off-loading.
When the tank is full the control valve
is open and delivering, when the tank
level begins to drop the valve will
throttle for a low flow condition
permitting air release or shut off the
Critical functions such as minimum
flow rates, excess flow rate, tempera-
ture detection, preset volume over-
run, and memory retention, are
monitored by internal circuits. Any
failure will signal closure of the valve.
Should the valve fail to close within a
programmable period after having
been signaled, a contact is closed.
This can be wired through external
relays to shut off the pump and/or
kill power circuits.

loading of refined products, AccuLoad

pump at the low fill switch position.
Timing adjustments can be set in the
AccuLoad to allow for varying system
hydraulics. An optional alternate gear
pump control system can be installed
to empty the air eliminator tank
through the meter if desired.
The AccuLoad will allow six separate
product valves to be sequenced
depending on the product to be
unloaded. There is also verification
that the proper valve is open thus
preventing contamination.

AccuLoad III accomplishes ratio
blending of multiple products in the
following manner. All products
required for the recipe are delivered
simultaneously through their dedi-
cated meters, corresponding pumps
and control valves. Two-stage valves
are not used for ratio blending; only
digital or analog valves are acceptable.
The ratio of the component products
is designated in the recipe as a
percentage of the total preset. These
percentages must total 100%.
When the operator enters a preset, the
AccuLoad III automatically calculates
the actual volumes of each product to
be delivered. As stated above, products
are delivered simultaneously, each
through its own meter. Flow rates are
adjusted for optimal blend accuracy
while conforming to the programmed
system flow profile using Smiths
exclusive control algorithm. Should
flow rate variations occur, the profile
is dynamically adjusted to attain the
best possible mix.
Side-Stream Blending
Side-Stream blending is a two-product
ratio blender where the minor of two
products is metered and is controlled
by a valve. The main product is free
flowing. Another meter and its
corresponding control valve are
located downstream from where the
two products merge.
Grounding and Overfill
As an option, AccuLoad III supports
the CIVACON grounding and overfill
monitoring system. This feature
requires the addition of a CIVACON
circuit board internal to the
AccuLoads housing. The interface
between the AccuLoad III and
CIVACON system consists of a serial
communications link that requires a
dedicated communications port on the
AccuLoad. The CIVACON communica-
tions line may be multi-dropped to up to
eight separate AccuLoads, with the actual
hardware resident in one AccuLoad.
Benefits
Optimum measurement accuracy is
attained through continuous linear-
ization of the meter factor with
changes in flow rates. AccuLoad III
is also capable of maintaining back
pressure on the measurement
system using either automatic
flow optimization or a pressure
transmitter.
Volumetric correction is calculated
directly from published API equa-
tions providing precise volumetric
measurement results. Precise tem-
perature, pressure compensation,
and density correction are options
that are available in the instrument.
Dynamic real-time display of the
current actual system operating
conditions of the system provide the
operator with valuable information
while the system is operating.
AccuLoad III provides several
loading system control functions:
Additive injection, pump control,
alarm control, set stop, valve control,
back pressure control, and automatic
adjustment of final trip point.
AccuLoad III is very flexible in
handling additive injection systems.
It has the capability of handling
piston injectors, metered injectors
and smart injectors in the same
application. The injector systems are
controlled either by pulse, monitor-
ing a meter and controlling a sole-
noid valve output or through
communications. Up to twenty four
additive injectors can be controlled
and monitored by the individual
AccuLoad and ninety six can be

AccuLoad III, if so programmed,
will automatically calculate and
adjust the additive pulse output to
be stopped at the first trip point
of the product with the same
number of pulses. This will have
the same effect as if the additive
output was stopped at the end of
the batch.
A contact is available to start and
stop a pump or other electrically
operated equipment as well as a
program code that will set the time
delay of that start or stop.
Two programmable alarm contacts
are available. They operate indepen-
dently and can be configured to
close on a Valve Fault, on any alarm,
or not at all.
AccuLoad III contains the intelli-
gence to control a Smith Model 210
or 215 Digital Control Valve, or an
analog valve, that will provide low
flow start and multi-stage shutdown.
AccuLoad III contains the intelli-
gence to automatically reduce the
flow of product and ensure the flow
is within the pumping capabilities of
the system. Once the flow is able to
continue at the programmed high
flow rate, the AccuLoad III will
increase the flow to programmed
values.
AccuLoad III, if so programmed,
will automatically adjust the final
trip point of the batch (preset).
AccuLoad III, provides auto-
mated vapor pressure control to
ensure that LPG is always in a
liquid state.
