when centering it around one engaging situation or theme.

Castle, G. H., Parry, T. (2006). Designing brain compatible learning (3rd ed.).
Thousand Oaks: Corwin Press.

Designing brain compatible learning is a great textbook for all teachers. It

includes many ideas about collaborative teaching and includes great graphic organizers as
well. Chapter 6 is the most useful as it explains the four types of collaborative skills that
exist today.

Heathcote, D. (1999). Groups with special needs. In Betty Jane Wagner (Eds.),
Dorothy Heathcote; Drama as a learning medium. (pp.217-225).
Portsmouth: Heinemann.

This book on Dorothy Heathcote’s methods offers great ideas for the integration
of Theatre and Drama into all subject areas. Chapter 18 is most helpful for our class
currently because it discusses how to approach drama activities with various special
needs students.

how it is successful in the classroom for both the student and the teacher. It also offered
adaption methods, assessment considerations, and useful tips for diverse learners.
Although it wasn't specific for students with AS, it still gave me a great overview of
collaborative learning.

This book also offers many ideas to help integrate collaborative and trust building
skills into a classroom. Spolin explains a variety of exercises that can work with students

Problems: Toward a More Humanistic Science Education, Science

This resource provided a useful format for creating Large Context Problems and the
considerations to take when creating them. Although the subject modeled was
physics, the methodology can easily be adapted for most other subjects to spark
student interest.
