CLAY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


FEBRUARY 22, 2012, 7:00 PM
MANTRAP VALLEY CONSERVATION CLUB
PARK RAPIDS, MN
1. CALL TO ORDER: The February 22nd, 2012 meeting of the Clay Township Board
was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Andy Kietzman, and the Pledge of Allegiance was
recited by those present.
2. ROLL CALL: Present: Supervisors Jeff Haukebo and Andy Kietzman, Treasurer Del
Holz, and Clerk Margie Vik. Absent: Supervisor Norm Leistikow. Others Present: None.
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by
Haukebo, and unanimously carried to approve the agenda as presented.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A. Clay Township Regular Meeting Minutes-January 25, 2012: A motion
was made by Haukebo, seconded by Kietzman, and unanimously carried to approve the
Clay Township Regular Meeting Minutes for January 25th, 2012.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Minnesota Association of Townships Short Course: Kietzman stated the
MAT Short Course will be held in Walker on April 4th, 2012.
B. Minnesota State Auditor Safe Cash Form: Holz stated he finished
uploading and printing the auditors safe cash audit form. It needs to be done one week before
the annual meeting, by March 5th.
C. Gambling Permit: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by
Haukebo, and unanimously carried to acknowledge the letter to proceed with the
Minnesota State Gambling Permit LG220 for the United Foundation for Disabled Archers.
6. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Website: Kietzman stated establishing a website for the township has been
challenging. The best option is to contract with Microtech, which is a local company. There is no
contract or monthly fee. There is a set up fee at $40.00 an hour, and an annual $100.00 hosting

fee for the company to provide a web address. It will cost $200.00 to $400.00 to build the site. A
few of us need access to it to update the site. Haukebo questioned how much money is spent on
the annual newsletters. Holz answered $275.00 per year. A motion was made by Haukebo,
seconded by Kietzman, and unanimously carried to contract with Microtech to create a
website for Clay Township.
Discussion: Kietzman stated he didnt discuss payment options with Microtech, and questioned
if the supervisors would authorize payment up front. Haukebo amended his motion to say,
authorize Microtech to develop a website, and authorize an upfront payment of up to
$500.00 for said service. Kietzman seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
7. APPROVAL OF TREASURERS REPORT: Holz stated there is $65,952.33 in the
money market account. Theres $11.77 in the complimentary checking account. The total in
the checking account is $65,964.10, before payment of this months outstanding invoices. All
checks have cleared the account.
Holz stated the expenses for this month are Cumber Construction for $497.50, $52.60 for the
Enterprise, and $775.00 for MAT insurance.
Holz stated income received includes money market interest in the amount of $19.64,
general revenue and road and bridge fund for $363.72, and road and bridge road tax for
$2,439.64.
A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Haukebo, and unanimously carried to
approve the treasurers report, and to pay the outstanding bills.
8. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Haukebo, and
unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
