Player Aid Sheet Goal: Be the first player to acquire 10 victory points. Setup: 1. Each player chooses a color. In a three player game, red is not used. . Each player ta!es a "#uilding cost$ card. %. &he #oard island can #e set up either in "varia#le$ or "#eginner$ format. 'or the varia#le setup, see page 1* of the Settlers +lmanac. *. ,esource cards (cards -ith pictures of the various commodities) are sorted into stac!s and placed face up in five piles. .. Shuffle and place the special cards face do-n in one stac!. /. Game 1lay: 1. ,esource 1roduction . types 4 :um#er (forest), 1asture (-ool), 'ields (grain), ;ills (#ric!s), <ountains (ore) ,oll dice. 7orresponding num#er tiles produce that resource for ad6acent settlements. + player gets one resource for each settlement he has that #oarders the he2 or he2es that are producing resources. 'or each resource produced, the player ta!es one of the corresponding resource cards, unless the player has a city ad6acent to the resource #eing produced, in -hich case the player ta!es t-o resource cards for each ad6acent city. &he desert he2 never produces any resources. Soldier 7ards 4 ?hen played, immediately move the ro##er to the num#ered terrain he2 of the players choice. &a!e one resource card (face do-n at random) from the player -ho has a settlement or city ad6acent to that he2. If there are t-o or more ad6acent players, it5s the soldier card player5s choice.
