Duty Statement General Manager, Community Development/ Eastern Regions

ICV facilitates community development projects with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. We help Indigenous Australians to harness opportunities available to them and overcome social and economic disadvantage through community development and capacity building.. Reconciliation that occurs through our volunteering initiatives is also an important outcome of our work. ICVs General Manager, Community Development co-leads the development, implementation and delivery of our community and human development programs.. The General Manager, Community Development is the key to linking our direct project management and our volunteer recruitment and training work. Key components of General Manager, Community Development duties include: (a) Leading ICVs development and community engagement teams by setting a strong example and managing human resources effectively and compassionately including by encouraging inter-team collaboration, promoting and maintaining staff morale and professional development opportunities, managing work performance, and mentoring staff to enable their careers and productivity; Ensuring that the volunteer, community development and public support streams of ICVs work complement each other and contribute to the best possible outcomes for ICVs clients. Supervising and supporting ICVs regional networks to ensure the effective initiation, design and implementation of our programs including by providing best-practice advice and mentoring on project management and innovation, monitoring and evaluation, and human and community development and capacity building practices. Encouraging innovative and solution-focused approaches to business challenges and opportunities facing the organisations. Taking responsibility for efficient, effective and ethical investment of ICV resources, including financial and resource management and reporting. Collaborating with ICVs senior management team across Australia to contribute to organisational leadership, efficacy and innovation. Implementing ICVs workplace culture by setting the example, adhering to ICVs code of conduct, maintaining the highest standards of probity, and demonstrating ICV to be an employer of choice for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the region.

Selection Criteria - General Manager, Community Development


Selection criteria (a) (b) Ability to work respectfully, effectively, collaboratively and productively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people. Proven ability to lead and bring together culturally and socially diverse teams of people effectively and compassionately in order to produce real and sustainable outcomes. Proven ability to set the example as a leader and demonstrate initiative and the highest ethical standards to internal and external stakeholders. Emotional intelligence demonstrated by strong communication, relationship building, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills and a capacity to forge and maintain productive relations with a diverse range of people and organisations with different interests. Proven ability to manage resources efficiently, effectively and ethically in challenging and culturally diverse settings to produce high-quality outcomes including through innovation. Robust analytical, written communication and information technology skills. Extensive experience working in human and community development or capacity building fields. Experience in a volunteer environment, including development of policies and procedure to manage volunteer programs. Capacity to travel interstate and to remote locations.
