Year End Report 2013

This year is a special one as we mark 20 years of Josiah Venture ministry in Central and Eastern Europe! Every one of those years our team has been working and praying toward the same vision: A movement of God among the youth of Central and Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society. At milestones like this it is important to stop and reflect on what God has done. Join me in a quick journey through the then and now. - Dave Patty President, Josiah Venture

1993THEN
Two couples, Dave & Connie Patty and Dan & Laura Hash moved to the Czech Republic and Poland. Three months later Ken & Andrea Pitcher joined the ministry in Czech.

2013NOW
The Josiah Venture team now numbers 256 staff, serving in Central and Eastern Europe, with representative offices in the US and Canada.

Only four years after the fall of communism, no one knew if the region would slide back into oppression or unravel into chaos in the transition to a market economy.

There still is great freedom to proclaim the gospel and an increasing spiritual hunger. We are now working with the first generation to grow up in freedom.

In 1994 we held our first English camp. Out of this outreach a local church youth group grew from five young people to fifty.

This year we led a total of 105 week-long evangelistic camps. Over 5,000 young people attended the camps, during which there were over 600 professions of faith.

Praying into the Future

As we stand at this milestone and look forward, I invite you to pray with me for five specific things:

THE 99 LOST SHEEP

Only 1% - 1 out of 100 - of the young people in this region are evangelical believers. We want to reach the 99% who still dont have a personal relationship with Jesus.

THE SPORTS HIGHWAY

We are asking God for gifted young athletes and coaches to join a new ministry called Edge Sports that equips churches to use sports to reach the lost.

SOCIAL MEDIA INNOVATION

A Movement of God in 2013

After many months of planning and prayer, Edge Sports Ministry was launched in the fall of 2013. Already 15 churches are involved in this innovative outreach, which organizes recreational sports leagues and shepherds young people to faith in Christ through soccer and floorball teams.

Twenty years ago many Eastern European homes didnt have telephones. Now almost every young person is linked to the web with a smartphone, opening up strategic opportunities for evangelism and discipleship. Pray for our media team as they develop strategies to use these open doors.

EDGE SPORTS MINISTRY

1000 NEW CHURCHES

Knowing that the existing churches will not be enough, we are asking God for 1000 new churches to be birthed across the region. This is something that can only be accomplished by a supernatural work of God.

A five year project to expand the capacity of our training centers at h2o and Malenovice was completed this year and resulted in an increased capacity of 200 beds. Now these facilities are fueling expanded outreach to the countries of Poland and the Czech Republic.

12 NEW COUNTRIES

Pray with us for gifted leaders to launch JV ministries in 12 more countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Our fall training conference gathered together young leaders from Central and Eastern Europe to focus on one of the keys to a movement developing a white-hot faith. Small radiate groups are now raising the heat on disciplemaking all across the region.
