After learning about the differences between eukaryote and prokaryote and what makes up the cell, students will create their own version of each cell. Students will split up into 2 groups and create a project demonstrating the content from which they have learned. After completing the project, students will give an oral presentation about their work along with reflecting with their own judgment by creating a blog post. If you know how your cells work, could you prevent an outside cell from taking over body? CCSS.ELA-LITERACY. RST.9-10.7 Translate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text into visual form and translate information expressed visually or mathematically into words.

Group:

Students will work collaboratively to research, create, and model a life-like display of a cell. Each group will give an oral presentation about their work. Each group project will be put on display around main office so that teachers, parents, and others may view their hard work. Each student will participate in group work. Each student must interact and contribute in oral-presentation. Each student will personally reflect on other groups work, along, with their own work, in the format of a blog post.

Entry Event to launch inquiry, engage students: Assessments

To introduce the new topic that we will be learning about, I will show pictures of disease, sickness, infection, etc. What causes these unhealthy misfortunes? What can we do about them? Can we avoid them from happening to us? To first answer these question, we must learn about the source of the problem. If we understand how our cells work (eukaryotes) and how the cells that are infecting us work (prokaryotes) we can answer these questions and prevent them from happening.
