SOIL TESTING WHAT IS A SOIL TEST?

Soil Test is a chemical, physical or biological procedure to calculate the availability of nutrients for growth of plants or the stability of a building. As the basic structural foundation for almost all construction, soil materials play an important role in the ultimate success of a project. Whether you're working in clay, sand, gravel, or loam, understanding the soil properties of your site help you make good construction decisions. Actually is mandatory to every engineer that feels the technic and moral responsibility of his profession make the study of the conditions of the soil when they design structures of certain importance. Because this takes us to two characteristics to play: safety and economy. Dont forget: Who just know the theory of the Soil Mechanics and lacks of practice could be a public danger, Dr. Karl V. Terzaghi. That is why in the projects of construction is necessary to count on soil testing as much in the project stage and during the execution of the handiwork with strong, assurance and abundant data respect to the soil that you are working on. The group of data hast to give to the designer an exact conception of the physical properties of the ground that has to be considered in his analysis. In fact is in the laboratory of the Mechanic of Soils is where the designer has to obtain the definitive data for his work. To elaborate a precise analysis we have several tests but we will take just the Sieve Analysis. SIEVE ANALYSIS The finality is to obtain the distribution by size of every present particle in a sample of ground. With this method also is possible obtain the classification through the systems as AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) or USCS (Unified Soil Classification System). The essay is important because big part of the criteria of soils acceptance to be used as bases of constructions or roads depend on this analysis. For the distribution of sizes, are used numbered and normalized sieves, arranged in decreasing order.

Para obtener la distribucin de tamaos, se emplean tamices normalizados y numerados, dispuestos en orden decreciente.
