Materials Objectives

Students listen attentively, courteously, and purposefully to a range of texts from a variety of cultural traditions for pleasure and information. 7.) Listen purposefully to determine the main ideas and important details; use language appropriate to audience, purpose, and situation. 8.) Students improve their writing skills.

Procedures/Methods 1.) Reading Aloud Students take turns reading sections of a passage, play, or dialog out loud. At the end of each student's turn, the teacher uses gestures, pictures, examples, or role play to help the students make meaning of the text. 2.) Question and Answer Session The teacher asks questions of any nature and the students answer. In preparation for this activity the teacher models, extensively, the use of complete answers to questions. Once

doing this activity the teacher expects full sentences as answers to each question. Students can also be given the opportunity to ask the questions. 3.) Getting Students to Self-Correct The teacher when provided with the opportunity should have the students self-correct by offering them a choice between what they said and the proper pronunciation. 4.) Question and Answer Session The teacher asks questions which contains prepositions and verb patterns to the students. The students then generate their own questions and direct them to other students. 5.) Fill-in-the-blank Exercise The students are then asked to read a sentence from the worksheets. They supply the missing words as they are reading. 6.) Map Labelling Students are provided with a blank map of Malaysia. The teacher gives specific instructions to the students. Once they are finished, their map will be completely labelled. The teacher takes the same map on an overhead and the students give the teacher instructions on how to label the map. Anticipatory Set Using realia like maps stimulates students interest and they tend to listen attentively, courteously, and purposefully to a range of texts from a variety of cultural traditions for pleasure and information.

Closure

The teacher asks the students about the things learned on that day.

Student Evaluation

Students are given exercises like labelling the map and fill-inthe-blank activity to reinforce their understanding about the topic. Students experiment with words and sentence patterns

and respond to grammatical questions during the question and answer session. Oral skill is improved during the session.

Teacher Evaluation

Map labelling activity; to find out if students know where the places are situated and if they are able to label them correctly.

Accommodations

Students complete grammar activity and map labelling activity.

Follow-up Activities

Students learn about the features of Malaysian geography and practice to pronounce words related to texts. Students will write a paragraph about the geographical features and places of interests in Malaysia.
