Introduction Your Britain (http://www.yourbritain.org.uk) is the hub of the Labour consultation process for formulating a strategy for Agenda !"# which will form the basis of the election manifesto for the ne$t general election. 2. The Policy Formulation Process %he policy formulation process centres around & key platforms: 'hallenge (apers 'hallenge (apers set out the key challenges facing Britain in areas that ha)e been prioritised by Labour*s Annual 'onference or +oint (olicy 'ommittee. %hey are short and concise , their purpose is to pro)ide a foundation for discussion and engagement- not to set out a policy agenda. (olicy .ocuments /ollowing consultation on a challenge paper- a policy document will be published setting out the conclusions reached based on the submissions and e)idence recei)ed through Your Britain. %his will set out the best approaches to tackling the challenges and will also include options where more than one course is possible. 0ubmissions A submission is an input into Labour*s policy de)elopment process. 0ubmissions which are made on Your Britain go forward to meetings of bodies called (olicy 'ommissions.

Policy ommissions Labour1s eight policy commissions are tasked with carrying out the detailed work de)eloping our ideas within their specialist areas. %hey meet regularly to consider the submissions made through Your Britain and to hear e)idence from e$perts- and are responsible for drafting the 'hallenge (apers and (olicy .ocuments you will find on this website. %he membership of each of Labour1s policy commissions is drawn from our 2ational (olicy /orum- the 0hadow 'abinet and our 2ational 3$ecuti)e 'ommittee- and reflects all parts of our mo)ement- including grassroots Labour (arty members- representati)es of affiliates such as trade unions- and elected politicians. %he policy commissions are: 3conomy 0tability and (rosperity (olicy 'ommission 4ork and Business (olicy 'ommission Li)ing 0tandards and 0ustainability (olicy 'ommission 0ociety 0tronger- 0afer 'ommunities (olicy 'ommission 3ducation and 'hildren (olicy 'ommission 5ealth and 'are (olicy 'ommission (olitics Better (olitics (olicy 'ommission 6nternational Britain*s 7lobal 8ole (olicy 'ommission
