Signal input from the PROCONTROL bus
All telegrams transmitted on the station bus are received by the module via its standard interface. Transfer takes place seri ally. The processing section therefore performs a serial/parallel conversion of the data. The module is able to receive telegrams with the following ad dress information: - System address - Station address - Module address - Register address 0 ... 3 1 ... 249 0 ... 58 0 ... 255

Application
The output module is used to output analog signals in the signal ranges 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA. The module contains 8 function units. It is thus possible to out put 8 different analog signals simultaneously.

Features
The module can be plugged into any PROCONTROL station. It incorporates a standard interface to the PROCONTROL station bus. The signals to be outputted are received by the unit in the form of telegrams from the PROCONTROL bus system via the station bus. The telegrams are checked for error-free transfer by means of the parity bits before being outputted. Digital-to-analog conversion is performed with a 12-bit res olution. The analog signal outputs are short-circuit-proof and pro tected against mutual interference. They have a common refer ence conductor. The analog inputs are isolated from the mod ule's internal voltage and from the PROCONTROL bus. Within the module, the signals are transferred to the outputs via optocouplers. The output signals can be simulated individually. Whenever an internal monitoring circuit responds, this is indi cated on the module's front panel by an SG (module distur bance) and an ST (general disturbance) disturbance annun ciation.

Based on its programming, the processing section determines which telegrams are to be evaluated and assigns the analog values to the appropriate memory location in the output regis ter (see Data communication with the module").

Receive monitoring
The module is provided with a time monitoring feature which supervises the incoming telegrams for proper cyclic renewal. If any of these telegrams is missing (e.g. due to failure of the send module), the module responds as follows: - It sets the disturbance bit of the received input value. This results in the analog output being set on the AP03 function block in accordance with the setting for disturbance bit eval uation. - The Receive monitor responding" bit is set in the diagnosis register, and the ST fault lamp lights up.

Operating modes
Function blocks The function blocks listed below are provided on the module for outputting analog signals. The abbreviated type designa tion is given for each function block. Function block Text element including specification of operating mode Outputting through analog process outputs Selection of operating mode When selecting the module's operating mode via the TXT1 function block, STR (binary control) is the only option per mitted. Output ranges The following output ranges may be configured with the AP03 function blocks (output function blocks for analog process out puts) for each function unit: 0... 100 % = 0... 20 mA (standard setting) 0... 100 % = 4... 20 mA If the output signal exceeds the output range specified, the current signal outputted will be increased accordingly until the current limitation feature intervenes at approximately 23 mA. Allocating the outputs of the function units Any one of the module's analog outputs can be allocated by the user to the output of any AP03 function block. Abbreviation TXT1 AP03 Structuring the analog signal outputs Structuring is performed by means of appropriate user specifi cations for the AP03 function blocks. The AP03 function block permits: - Signal expansion, i.e., linear mapping of an input value range AS ... ES to the output value range 0 ... 100 %. AS = Beginning of the expansion range, i.e., the input value which is mapped to the output value 0 %. ES = End of the expansion range, i.e., the input value which is mapped to the output value 100 %. - Setting of the output ranges 0 ... 20 mA or 4 ... 20 mA. - Disturbance evaluation, if the disturbance bit of the received input signal has been set. The cycle time needed for processing the defined structure is determined by the module and entered into the module regis ter 205. Simulation of output signals The output signals can be simulated individually via the PDDS (EDS). In the simulation mode, the processing section substitutes the simulated values for the values received from the bus during normal operation. As soon as the simulation is stopped via the PDDS (EDS), the module again uses the values transmitted over the bus.

Data communication with the module

Signal allocation The addresses of all telegrams whose data are to be outputted are programmed in the module. This enables the module to determine (by comparing the addresses) which of the data telegrams received have to be processed. The allocation of the individual converted signals to the module outputs at which they are to be made available is also programmed. It is pos sible to allocate the same signal to several module outputs. To enable the output module to be addressed individually (e.g. for simulating an output signal), it is given a unique address. The system and station addresses are identical for all modules contained in the same PROCONTROL station. They are set collectively and automatically on the modules via the station bus control module. The module address is set automatically when the module is plugged into the appropriate slot in the PROCONTROL station.

Diagnosis and annunciation functions

Disturbance annunciations on the module Disturbances are indicated on the module's front-panel by red LEDs: - Disturbance - Module disturbance ST SG

The "ST" LED indicates all module disturbances, as well as disturbances occurring in data communication with the mod ule. The "SG" LED indicates module disturbances. Disturbance signals transferred to the annunciation sys tem The alarm annunciation system and the control diagnosis sys tem (CDS) receive disturbance annunciation signals from the output module via the bus. Diagnosis The incoming telegrams, the generation of telegrams to be transmitted and internal signal processing are monitored for errors in the processing section of the module (self-diagno sis). In the event of a disturbance, the type of disturbance is filed in the diagnosis register and, at the same time, a disturbance an nunciation is sent to the PROCONTROL system. When requested, the module transfers a telegram with the data stored in the diagnosis register (register 246). The contents of the diagnosis register, the annunciations trans mitted over the general disturbance line, the annunciations on the CDS, and the ST annunciation are shown in Fig. 1. The annunciation "Parameter fault" may appear in the diagno sis register for the following reasons: - Limits of expansion range (inputs AS and ES of function block AP03) not plausible. The annunciation "Processing fault" may appear in the diagno sis register for the following reasons: - No valid structure list. - Disturbance of internal module voltages. - Hardware disturbance on the module. The annunciation "Process channel fault" may appear in the diagnosis register for the following reasons: - Disturbance of internal module voltages. - Hardware disturbance in the process section.
