Using this fle
Teaching Tips: Kindergarten Writing Book
You are able to print and photocopy these pages for your
non-commercial classroom and home use.
The Week
We have made this resource to give you a sequenced week of activities for your students. It is
possible to use the pages separately however, and tailor the work for your own student needs.
DAY 1 - Introduce Words + Trace & Find Page
After your regular word work or phonics lesson to introduce the at family, students may complete
this page.
Students trace the words and read them.
Students then join the word with the corresponding
picture by drawing a line.
DAY 2 - Trace & Make Page
Students trace the letters to make at tabs to glue into position to make words. Teachers will need
to copy and cut a strip of four tabs for each student prior to the lesson.
DAY 3 - Write Page
Students use the knowledge and skills they have used over the last two days to write the word
for each picture.

DAY 4 - Write & Find Page
Students write two words to complete the sentence and trace the other
words. Students also find the at words in the word search. All words appear horizontally.
DAY 5 - Create/Write a Sentence Page
Students can attempt to write a sentence of their own. Encourage them to use the skills and words
they have practiced through the week. Students may like to shade or tick the boxes that show
words they have used in their sentence.

Making the Books
Print Copy Cut & Staple
Choose the pages that are appropriate for your week of learning. Arrange the pages and staple
them ready for your students.
You will also need to print, copy and cut the letter tab page, in order for students to complete the
cut and paste on day two.
