represent has only increased over the years. As Marty puts it,
“Members own the Credit Union, so they actually have a say in how the business is
operated. It’s as though you are coming to a family member for your financial needs.”
The Roseburg Branch of SOFCU has 8000 members. Marty’s goal is to grow
membership equal to the Grants Pass Branch.
Marty enjoys spending his free time with his family. He is looking forward to the day

wild is strong in Douglas County.
The area’s hills, rivers and deep woods
offer excellent opportunities for sports-
men during respective hunting seasons.
“Douglas County has some of the best, most
diverse habitat in the state,” Oregon Depart-
ment of Fish and Wildlife Southwest Region
manager Steve Denney said. “Virtually every
corner of the county provides habitat for some
wildlife species.”
People interested in the hunting and fishing
available in Douglas County are encouraged to
obtain Oregon Department of Fish and
Wildlife fishing synopses and the big game
and game bird regulations to check dates,
boundaries and regulations.

In early 2008, the Baimbridge-Kanipe Farm-
stead, located on Elkhead Road, was added to the
National Register of Historic Places. The 18-acre
farmstead is part of the 1,090-acre Mildred Kanipe
Memorial Park. The 100-year English Settlement
School that is also part of the Memorial Park was
added to the register in September 2007.
Several Victorian-era homes have been preserved
or renovated, and the quaint old town offers fine
dining at Tolly’s and Oakland Museum celebrating
its history on Southeast Locust Street. The city also
boasts a bustling antiques trade. A walking tour
map is available at City Hall throughout the year.

those looking for indoor, as well as outdoor, sports. Its
facilities include two pools, three basketball courts, four

Located in Myrtle Creek, off Exit 108 to Division Street
