Abstract
This paper gives a TD-LTE network planning and performance evaluation methodology. In order to meet ever increasing traffic
and datarate demands in the future, we propose, on a high level, three approaches: improving the macro layer radio performance,
densifying the macro layer and complementing the macro layer with low power nodes. Combining with the proposed network
planning and performance evaluation methodology, the paper made a scenario specific illustration on how to make a TD-LTE
network evolution strategy and network planning via performance evaluation and solution comparison. Based on a system level
simulation platform, we further demonstrate the feasibility of this study by evaluating two approaches: improving the macro layer
radio performance by adding indoor antenna systems and densifying the macro layer, and get network planning key parameters.
The results show that this network planning and performance evaluation methodology can provide guidance for TD-LTE network
deployments and be of important value in making network evolution strategy.
