About the Author

Rita E. Numerof, Ph.D., is president of Numerof & Associates, Inc. (NAI), a strategic
management consulting firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Numerof’s career has
included experience as a hospital administrator, clinician, academician, and director of a
healthcare MBA program. Michael N. Abrams, M.A., is vice president and managing
partner of Numerof & Associates, Inc. (NAI). Mr. Abrams is a widely published author in
