As a former chief of staff for an elected official, I have a passion for public policy,
public relations and community activism. After leaving my government life, I
didn’t just sit on the sidelines. It was only when I left that I really realized the
importance of getting involved, being active in your community and making your
voice heard.

Developed small business proprietorship that sold women’s goods. In partnership with co-owner,
worked directly with large businesses and universities by arranging traveling boutiques. Maintained
steady clientele and developed relationships resulting in numerous loyal customers. Managed
boutique schedule, filled out and filed necessary paperwork, kept financial records and updated and
purchased new products as necessary to fill inventory needs and those of future trends.

San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob San Diego, CA

Held various positions and responsibilities for the Second District Supervisor, San Diego County Board
of Supervisors (positions noted below). District included over 550,000 residents with more than 2,000
square miles of land, the largest geographic supervisorial district in the county.

San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob

Managed a ten-member staff and $885,000 office budget. Responsible for policy recommendations for
the County of San Diego’s annual $3.7 billion budget and workforce of approximately 18,000. Served
as liaison with local, state and federal elected officials as well as business and community leaders.

Set goals for office, based pay increases strictly on performance and changed out personnel when
necessary. Built up staff into top performing, results-oriented team. Oversaw production of monthly
newsletter and media column, which was distributed to approximately 2,500 constituents and all media
venues throughout the region.

Communications and Policy Advisor February 1996 – March 2000

Responsible for communications with print and electronic media, production of a monthly newsletter,
drafting of monthly commentaries and production and planning of a monthly cable television show. Also
responsible for development of policy initiatives related to the County’s Health and Human Services
Agency, Department of Housing, County Libraries and Department of Park and Recreation.

Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach January 1994 – February 1996


San Diego State University

Responsible for initial recruiting of prospective student athletes; maintained database with thousands of
contacts; initiated regular written and verbal communication with hundreds of prospective student
athletes. Worked in partnership with media department on development of annual Media Guide.
