- In its 1999 Guidelines for Community Noise, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared, Worldwide, noise-induced hearing

impairment is the most prevalent irreversible occupational hazard, and it is estimated that 120 million people worldwide have disabling hearing difficulties. - The growing noise pollution problem has many different causes. Booming population growth and the loss of rural land to urban sprawl both play a role. Other causes include the lack of adequate anti-noise regulations in many parts of the world; the electronic nature of our age, which encourages many noisy gadgets; the rising number of vehicles on the roads; and busier airports. - More than 100 million people in the United States are exposed to noise sources from traffic near their homes. - Brief exposure to sound levels exceeding 120 dBA without hearing protection may even cause physical pain. - The effects of noise on childrens reading ability. - In the US, about 30 million workers are exposed to hazardous sound levels on the job, according to NIOSH. - High number of workers exposed to loud sounds include construction, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, utilities, transportation, and the military. - According to the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health in Cooperstown, a staggering 75% of farm workers have some kind of hearing problem - Noise has also been shown to affect learning ability. - All the effects and mechanisms are not elucidated, noise may elevate systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate, thus producing both acute and chronic health effects.

Noise pollution can be controlled at the source of generation itself by employing the techniques below: ** We can watch television programs, listen to radio or use the washing machines selectively to reduce noise in domestic sectors. ** Use any absorbing materials, like carpets to minimize noise generated from felling of items within the house. ** Prohibit the usage of loudspeakers in habitant zones unless necessary requirements, like engaging wide audiences, or functions. ** Send automobiles for servicing and tuning regularly. Try to reduce noise levels too by fixing silencers. Industries can maintain machines through proper lubrication and handling.

"Noise is among the most pervasive pollutants today. The problem with noise is not only that it is unwanted, but also that it negatively affects human health and well-being. Problems related to noise include hearing loss, stress, high blood pressure, sleep loss, distraction and lost productivity, and a general reduction in the quality of life." Source: Noise Pollution Clearinghouse. So what? - Noise population strongly and negatively affected to the human health, and also other creatures. The noise could be controlled if we all employing the techniques above. What if? - All the new generation has hearing and learning disabilities.

Says who? - Decibel Hell and Environmental Health Perspectives What does this remind me of? - This remind me of the video I watched on youtube Noise of the world by Marcel Nunis.
