Future

He who carries the knowledge of future can walk boldly, even upon shaky rocks. Success is then when the consummation is beautiful. Success is then when one can set forth upon a new journey. The wish is already a part of fulfillment. Courageously advance Light! The parting is the forerunner of the meeting. And St. Sergius used to say, "You. must depart, otherwise you cannot meet again. "

M.M. has a style in which He says so many simple things, and if you dig in you will see that it goes to infinity. Later we will especially see who are the shaky rocks. The first thing is about the future. You must have a future in your mind. That future will be whatever you want it to be. Some people do not have a future because they do not visualize, imagine, or think about something that they want to be in the future. Future is that which you want to be. If you do not have a future in your mind, you do not have destination. If you do not have a destination you are wandering and when you are wandering you are wasting your time and energy and life. Do you have something in your mind you want to be, something that is really beautiful? We have sometimes very illusive pictures in our mind. "In the future I want to be rich, a millionaire. In the future I am going to marry. In future I am going to have children." That is a future. If you want that future, you will have it. But is there something that you really want to be in the future? The future is not related to your age. Some people say, "If I were thirty years younger I would start something new." This is very wrong. In the real Teaching there is no age. You came from agelessness and you are going to agelessness. You are ageless. You are going to have continuous incarnations. All these stars are stations for your journey. If you think that all these globes and stars and constellations are kindergartens and schools and colleges and universities waiting for you, why are you talking about old age? There is no old age. Old age is your jacket. You leave the jacket and proceed onward.

First, you are going to put in your mind that in your decision to build a future for yourself, you do not consider your age, even if you are ninety-one years old or older. We worship the body. If a person is one hundred seven years old we congratulate him nationally. All right. What did he do? What did you do for humanity? It is such a cult worship, bull worship. What did you do to be recognized? Your future is what you do and you do things if you have future in your mind. If you do not have future in your mind, you cannot do anything because all that you do is automatic and mechanical. Only if you consciously build your future do you have a future. The first thing is to consider that your age is not an important thing, because on your ninety-first birthday you can start something great. Then people ask, "What happens when I die?" Do not worry. That future that is within you like the sail of the ship will carry you on the oceans toward your destiny. Your future is the sail that is carrying your ship toward the future. If we give up, how are we going to continue? M.M. says about Helena Roerich that "Every time she passed away she continued her labor everywhere she was found in existence." Mostly she continued again in physical incarnation. You die with that dream and you continue that dream forever, so get rid of that fear that aging will stop your progress toward your future. Future is not limited by the difficulties of your life. People come to me and say, "I didn't read or I did not do meditation because a guest came to my home, or the horn of my car was not working." What a great excuse! On the contrary, the difficulties of your life are planned by the computer of the Universe in such a way that unless these difficulties are there you will never advance and unfold and expand your consciousness. Every minute we have a difficulty we give up. Just around the corner where success is waiting with one more step, you turn back. The second consideration when you are building the future is not to think what difficulties will face you. If did that you would never have had two great temples and many books from a man who came to the United States not knowing English, not understanding the life here. Imagine, an insurance man came to my home and I thought he was the police. The insurance man asked me, "What if tomorrow you die? Sign

this contract, so that your wife and children are secure." I never talk about difficulties of life and I will never talk about them. Someone said, "You gave a lecture that was very dangerous." I do hot think about danger. I am talking about the things I want to talk about and I think they are useful. Why are you bringing the dangers? Never think about difficulties of the life that may come to you when you decide a future. Future will grind them and it is better that you create the wheel of the future so that you have something to grind and destroy your difficulties. The most miserable people are those who suffer and have painful lives and do not have a future. They are just like the leaves of the trees. The wind takes them here, dumps them there. That is it, and they suffer every minute. On the contrary, take for example the life of Lincoln. He had a future. He did something. Difficulties did not mean anything for him. It was because of the difficulties that he became somebody. If you want to be somebody, pass through difficulties so that you overcome them. If you escape the truth without facing reality, you will never advance if you are burying yourself under blankets not to see your face. You may be angry. So what. Future is not limited by the difficulties of your life. Do not even consider them. The Master says, "Once you dedicate your life to the Hierarchy, there is no return." If you return you did not dedicate. You were a hocus-pocus hypocrite. If you dedicated yourself, there is no return. Even your stupidities, your errors, your failures cannot stop you because you recognized them. You will say, "So what. I did it." The third thing in building your future is not to be affected by what people say about you or do against you. If you sit down and say, "Well, I want to be a great leader, . but what about if people gossip about me and slander me? What if people do use these kinds of things?" you will never proceed on your path. Great leaders, great people who do great jobs in the world do not count what people are going to say about them or what they are going to do against them because they know that these things will happen. All these things will be the wind on their sail. I experience sometimes little things like that. Difficulties, gossip, slander, things that are done against you. against the Teaching give

your sails more wind. "Wow. now I understand what the needs of the people are. If I retreat who is going to serve them? In spite of what 1 am it does not matter." Put yourself out of the picture. The future that you are thinking about is not really your property, your possession. If you understand that, you are a great philosopher. The fourth one is that future is not affected by the death of your body. Why? Your cloth is old and it is going to be taken away so that you receive a beautiful body, a beautiful body for which you worked hard. Why to worry' That is why in The Bhagavad Gita it says. "A person does not worry neither for living people nor for the dead," because it is all phenomena. The soul continues. If you do not have this conviction within your own soul, you are pitiful, living continuously and increasingly in fear. As your teeth start to break down you shake. "Tomorrow they are going to put me in the coffin, going to bury me and everything will be finished." God would not be create such a masterpiece and destroy it in sixty years. Even you do not do that. You create a beautiful picture, you paint it. Do you destroy it? No! You want to keep it forever, and you think God is different from you? The fifth one is that the future is not affected by your past failures as long as you do not identify yourself with them. There are so many people who are buried in their guilt feelings. "I did it. I cannot forget it." You are stuck, paralyzed there. That is one of the great tests for disciples, to overcome mistakes, to renew themselves. As the Bible says, "Like the eagles that renew their feathers." You are going to grow new feathers and fly to new heights, past the barrier. Karma will bring the bill, and I hope you are rich enough to pay it without feeling it. The future is your unfolding divinity. What a treasure is hidden within us. Imagine, one gram of uranium if released would destroy a city like Los Angeles. The one who created that kind of device is a man. Man must be superior to what he creates. If you release the uranium, or who knows what within yourself, you will see your divinity come into expression. When you are talking or thinking about your future, think that your future is the progressive unfoldment of your inner potentials, of your inner glory, beauty. Whatever you call it does not matter. But there is one common denominator as you go toward your divinity you become a more useful person. "I became a millionaire. I can go

every night to Las Vegas and spend a half million dollars. It does not matter for me." That is the other side of the abyss. What matters, as you get closer to your inner divinity, is that you become more useful, more helpful. People are drawn to you like bugs going to the honey because they know that you can help them and the greatest reward of a human being is to be in a condition, position, beingness so that he can help others. They asked a man, "What is the greatest thing for you?" He replied, "The greatest thing for me is the feeling that I can really serve people." You know that if in your own degree, on your own level, if service is taken away from your hand, you commit suicide. It is service which keeps you alive. If you are serving two inches out of a million inches, it is those two inches which are keeping you alive. The rest belongs to death. The more you serve, the more you are alive. The future is progressive unfoldment of your inner divinity. To what can we aspire? For example we can aspire to be a disciple. What is a disciple? Find out by reading Challenge for Discipleship. Then I want to be an Initiate. Read about it. Then I Want to be an Arhat. What is an Arhat? An Arhat is your future when your consciousness continuously works in the Intuitional Plane. Then I want to be a Master, a Chohan, a Resurrected One. These are suggested futures. You do not need to think about these things because you automatically become those things if you really serve, if you really decide your future. He who carries the knowledge of future can walk boldly, even upon shaky rocks. Who are shaky rocks? Most of your friends are shaky rocks. There are people who come and promise things, people who come with their beauty and make-up and smiles and you see shaky, shaky rocks. You see people who start one page and do not continue the next page. You see people who appear like friends and then go and stab you from the back. They are shaky rocks. There are books that promise you great, great things and do not give you anything. "If you elect me, I will save your life!" The next day he forgets you. You do not even exist. Sometimes M.M. calls them flickering lights. The beautiful thing is that He knows that they are shaky stones and He buries them under his feet and continues His journey. In choosing the future, you will never even count shaky rocks because they provide you a path to pass over the river.

Sometimes I go to the river and jump on the shaky rocks. It is so much fun but if you slide down you will hit your back. I remember how many shaky rocks I passed. They look solid and then you will see that they are shaky rocks. You will not even consider them. In building your future never consider the help of other people. Do you understand that? It is against your common sense, common logic. How come? "If I am going to start something great, consider how many friends and assistants I must have around me." If you do this you will never be successful. Mother Teresa, when she started her work, never considered any help. All you need is God's help and your spirit's help. You can say, "If your spirit is awakened, it will help me. If not, do not help." That is what the man of the future says. The man of the future does not consider who is going to help him, or who is going to hinder his path because both the man of hindrance and the man of assistance are books from which the leader learns his wisdom. I wrote a whole book when 1 was watching a secretary and saw what she was doing. We think and express our gratitude to those who are hindering us and to those who are serving us. Nobody can do anything to you or you cannot do anything to any other person. Whatever you are doing is to promote the purpose of God, the Plan. If you are doing good things for me, do not do it. If you are doing really good things for God, do it. That is the Teaching. That is how beautiful it is. Do not be afraid of shaky stones, although you must know that they are shaky. This is important to know in case you depend on a shaky stone or you offer all your assistance to such a shaky stone and he or she dumps you. It is so dangerous, but you can walk upon them. There is something very important here, a very important psychological aspect for you to think about. When you are interested about your future, what you warn to be, eventually you can reach certain conclusions that are so important for you to realize. You may say, "You know, in my future I want to he free of pain physically, emotionally, and mentally. I do not want to suffer anymore." Do you want such a future? Wonderful. But if you are trying to build that future for yourself, a future free of pain and suffering, why then are you causing pain and suffering to others? Can you live in a world without pain and suffering when the world is full of pain and suffering and you are causing it? We are going to the highest politics. How can

you expect to be without pain and suffering when you are causing suffering and pain? Karma is not stupid. It is seeing everything and recording everything and this is what the leaders do not know. We inflamed with our traditions, racism, and different things, say, "Destroy them, clean them." We clean them, but karma will clean us. Second we want to be joyful. Okay, can you be joyful in your family when every member of your family is depressed? What are we saying? You can have joy if you give joy to others. Build a joyful environment around yourself. But how can you build a joyful environment around yourself when you are exploiting, when you are sucking their money, their life, their energy, dumping them and living by their own blood. See the implication of M.M.'s Teaching. He says very mild things but go deeper and you will see the storm there. Of course you want a creative future, a successful future. Can you feel yourself successful in a poor country? Everywhere beggars are around you, homeless beggars are around you and you think you arc successful. Are you? You are a great failure. See things very clearly. You can be only successful among those people who are successful, creating an environment around you which is successful. When you are building the future, think about these points. All right I want to be a millionaire. Do I want it at the expense of others? Wow, you are not a millionaire then. Build a future that is different. You want to be loved in your future? How beautiful it is to be loved. Once I told four or five slanderers this and they said, "We have been slandering you forever but we are sorry." I said, "You know, I am hungry to be loved. I am tired of being hated. Love me and make people love you." Why are you not making me to love you? That is what you want isn't it? You want people to love you. It is a very strong principle. You want people to love you in spite of gossiping about you. Your beauty, your sincerity, your truthfulness, your righteousness, your freedom, your joy must impose on them to love you, but you must love them also. And loving them does not mean to be a donkey so they ride upon you.

Success is then when the consummation is beautiful. Consmmation is the last fulfillment, completion, perfection. You said you were a great painter. You have not finished yet; the consummation is not beautiful. Your image is not beautiful. You said that you are going to build a Temple. You did not. You started and then monkeys, donkeys, and coyotes came. You did not finish it. Consummation must be beautiful. You are only successful when the consummation is beautiful. That is the crown of your success so you live a life that, as you get older and older, you feel that you did something great and now you are very beautiful and with that beauty you are entering into a new journey, a new light. Success is then when one can set forth upon a new journey. You see people do something and stop there. Start something new, a new project, a new field of service, a new book, a new painting, a new composition, a new thing so that always you meet the departed achievement with a new achievement. You say good-bye. Who is saying goodbye? You have a great achievement, you have finished, but you will meet that achievement again on a higher scale when you start something and achieve again. When you are serving do not get tired and say, "I served two years and it is finished." Start something new because your success depends only upon when you start something new at a higher level, a new spiral. But if you sit there and say, "I finished one course. That is enough until the end of my life," you buried yourself.
