For users of the WEM client for the 3.0 load, it is necessary to install a minimum of the 3.0.18 version of the WEM client.
Step 1. Step 2. On the Windows taskbar, click Start>Accessories>Command Prompt. The system responds by opening a command prompt session. Type the java -version command and press the ENTER key to check the version of the Java software currently installed on the PC. The system responds with the following: java version "1.3.1_06" [or java version 1.4.2] Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_06-b01) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_06-b01, mixed mode)

Note: Do not change the default installation path of the JDK.

Step 3. Check the version of the WEM client software on the CD. The name of the executible is WEM Client <version number>. Note: Previous versions of the WEM client are permitted on the same client machine for access to different versions of the WSS software. Spatial Wireless recommends you keep the WEM clients separate by version number to avoid any confusion when accessing devices with different version numbers. Double-click the WEM Client <version number> icon. The system responds with the Setup window. Click Yes. The system responds with the Welcome window. On the Welcome window, click Next. The system responds with the License Agreement Window. Read the license agreement and select the I accept the agreement option. Click Next. The system responds with the Information window. On the Start Menu Folder window, click Next if you wish to accept the default folder. If you wish to create a different folder, type the name of the folder in the box and click Next. The system responds with the Select Additional Tasks window. In the Select Additional Tasks window, select the Create a desktop icon option if you wish to create a shortcut on your desktop. Select the Create a Quick Launch icon if you wish to place a shortcut in the Windows Quick Launch bar. You may select one or both of these options. If you select neither option, you can start the WEM client by clicking Start>Program Files>WEM Client <version number>WEM Client <version number>. Click Next. The system responds with the Ready to Install window. Verify the information on the Ready to Install window is correct and click Install. The system responds with the Informationwindow. Read the information on the Information window and click Next. The system responds with the Completing the WEM Client Setup Wizard window. The Completion screen appears.
