About this ebook

THE TECHNIQUES OF ASTRAL PROJECTION

The subject of Astral Projection is one of paramount significance in this materialistic Age, as it proves conclusively the possibility of life after death. It is, however, a phenomenon more often brushed aside by the medical profession as mere hallucination.

In this book Dr. Douglas Baker supplies the reader with case-histories proving the reality of Astral Projection as well as describing in detail the various techniques whereby the astral body can be brought out of alignment with the physical, so that the individual can be made increasingly conscious in the astral world. He then goes on to describe that astral world, and what we may expect to find there.

Douglas M. Baker

Dr. Douglas M. Baker. English born and raised in South Africa has done extensive scientific research into those hinterlands of the mind which one might call psi-semantics. He graduated in the Arts & Humanities in South Africa and qualified in medicine at Sheffield University (UK) in 1964. Having taught in the East End schools of London for 10 years, he began his tour of the Western world giving lectures and seminars in Esoteric Healing, Esoteric Anatomy, Esoteric Astrology, Esoteric Psychology, Esoteric Science and Metaphysics. He, more than any other, set in motion the trends towards alternative methods of medicine which have transformed that field in Britain today. As medical advisor to the De la Warr laboratories in Oxford, he undertook research into Biomagnetism and quantum physics their effects on the human aura and dark matter, producing the book by the same name in conjunction with George de la Warr. Through the years he has given more than 15,000 lectures and attracted people from all over the world to his Esoteric Science Festivals and International Summer Schools staged in America, Canada, England, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. His transformative experiences during the Second World War, when twice severely wounded, set the pattern for his life long investigations into the Powers Latent in Man. His extensive esoteric writings are said to be the largest collection in the world produced by a living author. He has written over 100 books, many of which have been translated into the 9 European languages at https://www.douglasbaker.com, and his list of downloadable MP3 audio lectures available at www.douglasbaker.org, include 500 live lectures given around the world and on a vast range of subjects. He has led the field in esoteric astrology, producing with a team, his magnum opus, a Dictionary of Astrology for the 21st Century in three volumes. This is in addition to the already existing 11 volume set of books on the same subject.

    Important Foreword to this Edition

The techniques outlined in this work have been evolved through personal experience and research over the past 40 years. As a qualified doctor of medicine I can vouch for their safety they are based on a simple process of taking an ordinary capacity or power, latent or manifesting within us and expanding and amplifying it so that it can be a device for securing out-of-body experience.

At that time, 40 years ago, the subject was extremely clandestine. Few people knew what an out-of-body experience (OBE) really was. Today, the whole field of investigation into this subject has exploded. Several notable books have been written on the subject of OBE's and public awareness of the phenomena is widespread. The tremendous advances in clinical medicine, which have accompanied technological innovation, have contributed to the increased awareness of OBE's. People suffering a sudden stroke or heart attack, whether in the High Street or on the operating table, are more likely to be revived. This has caused the medical establishment to reassess the clinical definition of death. Paramedics are so efficient in resuscitating the victims of such medical emergencies that expanding numbers recover and bring back with them compelling accounts of experiences they had during the crucial minutes that the heart had stopped and they were, what until recently would have been considered, clinically dead. It is called the near death experience and is characterised by an accompanying transformative vision. The vision is something so powerful that it is indelibly stamped on their consciousness for the rest of their days and has a transformative effect on their attitude to death and in the way they subsequently live.

Near Death experiences are only one aspect of OBE's. Spontaneous projections either from the dream state in what has been erroneously called `lucid dreaming', or as the result of a sudden shock are also being increasingly reported. A long-standing friend of mine recently had an OBE that is typical of this type:

"I was walking along New Malden High Street on the way to a hairdressing appointment. I was late and in a hurry. As I drew near the hairdressers, situated on the opposite side of the road, I turned to cross the High Street. As I approached the far curb I noticed a disturbance behind me. I did not have the time to go back to see what had happened so continued. I went a little further when I heard a voice that said: `No, you must go back'. Suddenly I was aware of lying on the ground looking up at a ring of faces.

I found out later that, as I started to cross the High Street, I had been hit by a cyclist who I had not seen coming, and knocked unconscious. I had been the cause of the disturbance I had seen behind me! I waited for an ambulance, was taken to the local casualty and treated for cuts and bruises."

These many factors have contributed to a focusing of attention not only onto the whole subject of out-of-body experience but also the more complicated matter of deliberately leaving the physical body at will and projecting it to different
