This book reflects the new reality of various Industrial Relations.
A contemporary approach is evidently illustrated the significance of
Industrial Relations. This third edition is written by four eminent authors,
which is well organized, thoroughly revised and updated. This book
focuses strongly on the decline of unionism, new forms of employee
representation and bargaining the individualization of the employment
relationship. This Industrial Relations book consists of ten chapters.
Each chapter is very well documented with Introduction, followed by
IR news, work story, final observation and summary, discussion
questions, case study and end with further reading. This unique kind of
presentation is especially designed to trigger off and enhance the
acquisition of the principle tenants of the Industrial relations.
Part 1 of this book has two units and it defines about the study of Industrial
Relations and traces the changing nature of work and employment.
Part 2 consist of five units. This second part has explored the role of the
Australian state, recent trends like the rise of corporatism in the 1980s
and the receding states during the 1990 - 2000 are traced. This part also
deals with Federal Tribunal suffering, Management strategies and
structures, the union and then the non- union organizations that seek to
represent the interest of employees in the employment relationship.
Part 3, has three units, particularly specified the enterprise bargaining
structures and processes, the traditional issues of Industrial conflict and
gives a view about the impact of Industrial relations and HRM on the
performance of national economies. This blows a very good exposure
among the readers as well as to posses a thorough knowledge about
Industrial Relations.
Besides the above mentioned factors the following features are
also emphasized in this book:
The Industrial Relation must be between the employer and the
employee. It has to be kept in smooth and harmonious level, so that
they could look forward for the better production and the best
Marketing. Both the management and the employees should understand
that the difference of opinion or conflict or contradiction should not
arrive in any case. The employer must always look after the welfare
and well being of the employee in order to avoid conflict, strike or
lockout on any cost. Both the employer and the employee should
maintain everlasting peace and tranquility in the Industrial environment.
The management should never think off monopoly or domination. The
organization should fulfill the needs and wants of the employees. Both
should maintain collection of bargaining in the industry. Cogent,
collaboration and cooperation must be kept undisturbed always.
