In a daily magazine here appears an ad suggesting M&Ms consumers to vote for Miss Green, stating Miss Green working the polls (M&Ms). The advertisement proposes consumers to vote and buy their product by persuading the purchaser a winning compensation of one hundred thousand dollars. In the daily magazine appears an ad for one of M&Ms original color candy. The background of the ad is majority green and blue. White appears around the border of the ad. When gazing upon the ad, at the top is all capitalize white letters stating: Vote one green, but one is actually a mathematical figure number one (M&Ms). she is surrounded by stumps. She appears happy and flirtatious about hugging this brown earthly tree. On the right corner of the ad displays an award signifying a grand prize of one hundred thousand dollars. Directly below the image briefly states sarcastically, Miss Green working the polls (M&Ms). With such detail within the ad the company allows the consumer to understand the concept of its purpose. The purpose of this advertisement is to vote Miss Green, and buy M&Ms. The message that the ad is trying to express to its audience is that going green is a positive outcome. Therefore, voting for Miss Green is the right decision to make. The target audience would be consumers who enjoy eating M&Ms and also promote going green. In addition, there are several rhetorical strategies being used in order to persuade the target audience to buy the product. For instance, the creator for the ad incorporates pathos by placing information at the bottom of the ad mentioning the grand prize that a consumer could possibly win. The use of pathos is to generate specific emotion towards the audience about the ad. Also it was effective because it gave the reader a purpose to get involve to vote for Miss Green. The advertisement also uses humor as a rhetorical device. At the bottom of the ad it states, Miss Green working the polls, which ignites a sense of sarcastic humor to the consumer and helps them to vote for this particular M&M. The ad does demonstrates a bunch of imagery, which sets the whole ad in prospective. Around Miss Green are trees that have previously been cut down. Yet, Miss Green is chained around the tree, making a symbolical statement about going green. This leads the buyer to question themselves, will they go green as well. Furthermore, the choice of color in the ad plays a major role in purposely persuading buyers to vote and buy M&Ms candy. Vote one Green its in all white,

promotes purity and prosperity. It also, gives comfort to the readers eyes, compared to the words being black. Through these strategically placed rhetorical strategies, the reader is to assume that voting for Miss Green M&M will be better for the world as a whole, and better for consumers to buy. The M&Ms go green advertisement imposes several misleading claims in their ad. The vague claim is used in the ad. By stating the words Miss Green working the polls, allows to deceive buyers to believe that this product is bound to get votes. The words are colorful, but meaningless as well as the use of subjective and emotional opinions that defy its proof. Another claim is the Water is Wet claim. Almost every color of M&Ms taste the same, and promote the same product, chocolate. Therefore, competing between each color is irrelevant. Also, the claim Were Different and Unique is also displayed in the ad. The ad states to vote for Miss Green, because she indorses going green. This allows for the consumer to believe Miss Green is unique from other colors, and gives buyers to think more of her. The advertisement final claim is the Scientific Claim. The M&M suggest that if Miss Green is voted for, then the consumer will have a shot to win the grand prize, one hundred thousand dollars. This allows the readers to have a sense of trust with the producer of M&Ms because it gives evidence for the consumer to rely on. In conclusion, the ad is hilarious and misleading. The M&Ms go green advertisement cleverly uses discrete claims and carefully placed rhetorical strategies. The ad mainly focuses on the target audience to vote and buy Miss Greens candy, based on the information placed within the ad. The consumer is allowed to believe the statements the add exhibits due to the claims and strategies used.
