Basic Evaluations and Testing for PV Modules Performance and Design Qualification

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Performance and Design Qualification

IEC 61215 ED. 2.0 B:2005 Crystalline silicon terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules - Design qualification and type approval

Lays down requirements for the design qualification and type approval of terrestrial photovoltaic modules suitable for long-term operation in general open-air climates, as defined in IEC 60721-2-1. Determines the electrical and thermal characteristics of the module and shows, as far as possible, that the module is capable of withstanding prolonged exposure in certain climates.

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Performance and Design Qualification

IEC 61646 ED. 2.0 B:2008 Thin-film terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules - Design qualification and type approval IEC 61646:2008 lays down requirements for the design qualification and type approval of terrestrial, thin-film photovoltaic modules suitable for long-term operation in general open-air climates as defined in IEC 60721-2-1. This standard applies to all terrestrial flat plate module materials not covered by IEC 61215.

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Performance and Design Qualification

IEC 62108 ED. 1.0 B:2007 Concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules and assemblies - Design qualification and type approval

"Specifies the minimum requirements for the design qualification and type approval of concentrator photovoltaic modules and assemblies suitable for long-term operation in general open-air climates. The test sequence is partially based on that specified in IEC 61215. Determines the electrical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of the CPV modules and assemblies and shows that the CPV modules and assemblies are capable of withstanding prolonged exposure in climates described in the scope."

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Safety Qualification

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Safety Qualification

IEC 61730-1 ED. 1.0 B:2004 Photovoltaic (PV) module safety qualification - Part 1: Requirements for construction Describes the fundamental construction requirements for photovoltaic modules in order to provide safe electrical and mechanical operation during their expected lifetime. Addresses the prevention of electrical shock, fire hazards, and personal injury due to mechanical and environmental stresses. Pertains to the particular requirements of construction and is to be used in conjunction with IEC 61215 or IEC 61646.

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Safety Qualification

IEC 61730-2 ED. 1.0 B:2004 Photovoltaic (PV) module safety qualification - Part 2: Requirements for testing Describes the testing requirements for photovoltaic modules in order to provide safe electrical and mechanical operation during their expected lifetime. Addresses the prevention of electrical shock, fire hazards, and personal injury due to mechanical and environmental stresses. Outlines the requirements of testing and is to be used in conjunction with IEC 61215 or IEC 61646.

Basic Standards for Terrestrial PV Modules Safety Qualification

UL1703 Ed. 3: 2002-03 Flat-Plate Photovoltaic Modules and Panels Ed.1: 1986-08 Describes the requirements that cover flat-plate photovoltaic modules and panels intended for installation on or integral with buildings, or to be freestanding (that is, not attached to buildings), in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and Model Building Codes. These requirements cover modules and panels intended for use in systems with a maximum system voltage of 1000 V or less. These requirements also cover components intended to provide electrical connection to and mounting facilities for flat-plate photovoltaic modules and panels.
