OUR MISSION: To improve the lives of orphans across India by empowering college students.

ABOUT US: India Kids is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2010 with the goal of putting an end to the inadequacies faced by Indias 31 million orphans. We follow a 4-step model. (1) We visit orphanages/shelter homes and identify gaps that are keeping orphans from reaching their full potential. (2) We design projects with tangible goals to close these gaps. (3) We partner up with universities worldwide and engage college students in implementing our projects. (4) We develop rigorous methods and measure our impact across orphanages. PROJECT RESEARCH INTERNSHIP PROFILE DURATION: 1-2 months (throughout the year) LOCATION: Flexible

STIPEND: Interns will be reimbursed with travel and any other organization-related expenses. If required, interns will also be given a certificate and reference letter on successful completion. THE PROBLEM: Majority of Indias orphanages lack proper funding and facilities. Many fail to fulfill basic nutritional, academic, and infrastructural requirements. Since several of these are not supported by powerful community groups or big organizations, they remain largely in the dark. It is imperative that such orphanages are approached and supported at the earliest. WHAT WE NEED: We are creating a database of needy orphanages which exhibit potential to be taken up as India Kids project sights. For every orphanage, information may include: -Biographical data including history, founding year, and rise/decline in population and facilities -Detailed contact information of orphanage and relevant personnel -Statistical data on current orphans including gender break-up, age groups, academic levels, etc. -Information on existing infrastructure, facilities regarding nutrition, healthcare, lodging, education, and recreational endeavors -Data on funding sources of orphanage including donors, sponsors, charities, etc. -Information on orphans who no longer reside at orphanage; what careers are they pursuing, etc. -Background on locality; assessment of available education and career opportunities for orphans along with potential threats and security risks -Details of other organizations/NGOs associated with the orphanage and services provided. EXECUTION: Based on your background and area of expertise, we will collaboratively decide your target sphere for our research bank. Your work will entail identifying and evaluating data for your focus area. You will also play a pivotal role in making strategy recommendations to our national board based on your observations and research.
