Sub: Launch of Computer Based Online Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)-2013 for admission in Post Graduate Pharmacy Programme.

About GPAT The Scores in Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) have been in use till the year 2010 for admission in Masters Programme in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) & Engineering and also for awarding fellowships/scholarships to Pharmacy Graduates along with engineering graduates. Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) an all India Examination was then launched by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi separately with effect from academic year 2011-12 for admission in Masters Programme in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) and for award of fellowships. The first GPAT examination i.e. GPAT-2010 and the subsequent one for 2011 and 2012 was conducted in paper pencil mode by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi in association with M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara. Computer Based Online GPAT-2013 AICTE has been conducting computer based online common management admission test (CMAT) as entrance test for admission into post graduate management programmes. Considering the success of online CMAT, AICTE has decided to conduct GPAT also online from 2013. The GPAT-2013 will be conducted online in 57 cities from 16th May to 18th May, 2013 and scores awarded will be used for admission in the post graduate pharmacy programs at national level for year 2013-14. The respective Secretaries of the state dealing with technical education have been requested to inform all concern in their respective States & jurisdiction to notify the change in the pattern of the exam for academic year 2013-14. The State Governments are required to register online free of charge for accessing detailed merit list and scores of qualified students for academic year 2013-14. Advantages accrued due to online GPAT The National level test will be conducted for three days from 16th May to 18th May, 2013 in two shifts at 57 cities/locations. The online test will facilitate students to select the city and date of appearing in examination. Choice of 3 cities for online examination in the order of preference may be exercised. Actual allotment however will be subject to availability of the slots in a particular city. The complete process of examination including registration, allotment of centre, printout of admit card, capturing the photograph and biometric, writing the test, announcement

of result, display of merit list, downloading score cards is online, which offers higher grade of transparency & accountability in the process and also saves the time. For each correct answer 4 marks are awarded and for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted. Test Venues The GPAT will be conducted in following cities from 16th May to 18th May, 2013.
