Teh-jet (Shu-wine) Battle February 7, 2014 A battle took place between troops from Battalion 223 of the Ta-an

National Army and troops from LIB 505 of Myanmar Army, near Teh-jet-Shu-wine, at about 1515 hours. Many Myanmar troops, including 505 column commander, Lt. Col. Thant Zin Tun, were killed. The clash broke out when LIB 505 Column came down from Shuman Village of Namsan Township and went up the Teh-jet-Shu-wine Hill for offensive, where it ran into troops from Battalion 223 of the Ta-an Army. At least 10 from LIB 505 Column were killed in the clash. In the clash taking place earlier, at about 12 noon, between Homain and Pan-hsway, near the site of the battle mentioned above, at least 3 Myanmar troops were killed, also. The Myanmar Army has formed 5 military columns for operations in border area of NamsanMantong and more clashes could break out in the near future. We received information that at about 1530 hours, a convoy of 10 military trucks with troops passed through Namtu Town and it was likely to be headed to the area, where clashes were taking place. Continuing Clashes Raised Tension February 7, 2014 The clashes that started at about 12 noon, at a place between Homain and Pan-hsway villages, between troops from Namsan Township based Battalion 256 of the Ta-an Army and Myanmar Army battalions LIBs 17, 506 and 115 military columns was continuing, at the time of this report. On February 3, 2014, troops from Myanmar battalions 17, 506, 115 and those from the battalions under Division 99 arrived at Namsan Town in the Palaung Self-administered Region, and launched successive encirclement and annihilation military operations, in Namsan Township. The Myanmar troops were encamped in Pan-hsway and Homain villages for attacks against the Ta-an Army troops active in the nearby forest ranges, and clashes were continuing. Sounds of small arms and heavy weapons fire were reverberating in the area constantly. In the clash that took place on January 25, 2014, between troops from the Ta-an Battalion 256 and Myanmar Battalion 506 Military Column, a total of 5 troops, including the Battalion 506 column commander, one company commander and 3 other ranks were killed. In the clash that took place between troops from Ta-an Battalion 717 and Myanmar Battalion 223, on February 3, 2014, near Mogok Town, one sergeant from Myanmar battalion was killed and one MA-1 rifle with some rounds were captured. The Myanmar Army had sent out 5 military columns in Nasam Township alone and it was launching offensives against the Ta-an Army.

6 Myanmar Troops Killed in Clash between TNLA Bn 367 and Myanmar Bn 114 February 9, 2014 A firefight broke out on February 9 at about 1000 hours, between troops of Ta-an Army Battalion 367 and troops from Myanmar Army Battalion 114, on Tarban Hill (on Mantong-Namtu motor road) in Mantong Township. It was a head-on clash, in which 6 Myanmar troops from LIB 114 were killed and 4 MA-1 assault rifles and about 100 rounds were captured by the Ta-an troops.

The clash took place when some Battalion 367 troops of Ta-an Army Strategic Command (3), on patrol for area security, ran into the Myanmar troops, while they were crossing the Mantong-Namtu motor highway. The clash ended at about 1035 hours and lasted about half an hour after troops from both sides withdrew from the site of the clash. There was no casualty on the Ta-an Army side. Before the clash, a convoy of 10 military trucks with soldiers passed by to reinforce the Myanmar military operations in Ta-an region.
