Spring 2014 ACADEMIC DISHONESTY Academic dishonesty refers to any form of misrepresentation of student abilities, including, but not limited to, cheating on exams, plagiarism, and submitting work that has been written, translated and/or substantially edited by someone else. Please refer to the Eastern Mediterranean University web site for a complete description of the Regulations for Student Discipline (http://mevzuat.emu.edu.tr/). PLAGIARISM Students should not use others words or ideas without giving credit to the source(s) (e.g., journal articles, books, or websites) in the appropriate format. This rule applies to both published and unpublished sources. All sources used for quotes or paraphrasing must be cited using in-text references in the appropriate format and must be included in the reference list. For example, copying and pasting any part of an assignment (even if it is just a few sentences) from electronic or hard copy sources without indicating quoted material and/or without proper referencing is considered plagiarism. PLAGIARISM INTERVENTION SOFTWARE TURNITIN All student assignments will be checked by the Turnitin software program. Turnitin is an internet based text matching service that compares assignments against its international database and provides an originality report. It is widely used for detecting plagiarism. Before submission of any written coursework, students will be required to submit their work to Turnitin and ensure that no more than 20% of the work is matched in other database. Students will then submit the originality report to the course instructor. However, the originality report alone will not be used in deciding whether plagiarism has occurred; it will instead be used as a guiding reference. MAKE-UP POLICY There will be no make-up options for the in-class assignments or pop quizzes. Within a few days after the final exam there will be a make-up exam, for people who missed either the midterm exam or the final exam with legitimate and documented excuses. In order to be able to take the cumulative make-up exam, valid documentation should be provided to the Psychology Department Administration within 3 days of the scheduled exam that is missed. It is students responsibility to check with the Psychology department for the make-up schedule. CLASSROOM POLICIES All requests for grade re-evaluations on exams, quizzes and class assignments must be made within three days of grade notification. There are no re-evaluations of previous work (i.e., exams, quizzes or class assignments) after final point calculations are posted at the end of the semester. Final grades are assigned solely based on points earned during the semester. Please refer to the Psychology Department web site for a complete description of classroom policies ASSIGNMENT DEADLINES No extensions will be granted on assignment deadlines. All assignments may be handed in anytime prior to the deadline given. Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted. You must be in class at the time assignments are collected , otherwise your work will be considered late and therefore will not be accepted. Please get into the habit of frequently navigating on the Psychology Departmental facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EmuPsychologyStudents/

PS: Once you have completed your observation and evaluations you are required to present and interpret your findings in the form of a case study report. Please adhere to the deadlines for the submission of your progress reports.
