Being a Woman of God Godly Women

Some of the most impressi,e people I ha,e e,er met in m* life ha,e been ladies. /ne was m* mother, who was a pra*ing woman. 2he other was an elderl* woman whom I met when I was nine *ears old. At that time we mo,ed to a certain place in 2ennessee where m* mother was raised. 2here was an elderl* woman who li,ed up in the mountains and had se,eral children. 5,er*bod* called her Grandma Shields. We li,ed a mile from a little Baptist church, and Grandma Shields li,ed about a mile from us. She would walk down those dust* roads, two miles one wa*, to come to church. And this elderl* woman would shout in church all the time. She would 6ust praise God and walk the floor in church, and the #

Spirit of God would come on her. When she was out in the corn fields working, she would be pulling corn, when suddenl* she would get on her knees and start pra*ing. 2he Spirit of God would come upon her and she would shout in the corn fields. And it was like that all the time with her. I would walk behind her as a little kid, and she would 6ust stop and praise the 3ord. 2his woman knew God better than an*bod* in that communit*. 7ou could hear her pra*ing up in the mountains. When she would come down from there, the glor* of God would be all o,er her. Another godl* woman I knew was someone I met after I ga,e m* life to the 3ord and started working with )harismatic and .entecostal people. She was a .entecostal woman. She li,ed close to the church in small white house. And I belie,e she knew God in an intimate wa*. I would hear testimonies about this woman in the midst of c*clones and storms. I 8

heard about her faith, how she would 6ust kneel b* a window, throw her hands up, and sa*, 9)*clone, I:m talking to *ou, *ou can:t touch m* house, in ;esus: name<9 And those c*clones would go b*, trees blowing the air, lifting houses up and carr*ing them off=but not one of them e,er touched her house.
I would think, Bo*, it would be good to know God like that and ha,e that kind of faith in God.

2his woman wanted me to ,isit with her because she knew I tra, eled all o,er the countr*. Sometimes I would also take m* friends who were preachers and e,angelists. I wouldn:t tell them where we were going, because I didn:t think the* would want to go to some little old lad*:s house. When we arri,ed at her house, the* would ask, 9 or,el, where are *ou taking us>9 I would sa*, 9Be quiet, don:t ask an* questions? 6ust follow me.9

The Ministry of a 'Little Old Lady'

/ne time when I took an e,angelist to $

,isit this woman, I asked her how the -ol* Ghost operated on her. She said, 9/hhhhh, the -ol* Ghost< I had this growth the si@e of a lemon that grew on m* 6aw. I didn:t worr* about it? I 6ust thanked the 3ord. I 6ust told the 3ord to take it awa*. /ne da* I was in the bathroom, and the -ol* Ghost came on me and said, :Go into the li,ing room and sit down in the green chair, because this morning I:m going to operate on *ou. 2ake a towel with *ou.:9 She continued, 9I took a towel with me and walked out of the room. -e e,en told me what color of chair to sit in? -e told me to sit in m* green chair. I sat in the green chair, and I put the towel across m* lap, turned m* face sidewa*s=and the knot fell off< I didn:t e,en feel an*thing. And now m* face is as smooth as silk<9 She said, 9I wanted to sa,e it and put it in alcohol or camphor, but the 3ord said, : o, don:t sa,e it? it:s the de,il:s handiwork<:9 B* the time the little .entecostal lad* had (

finished, I looked at this gu* who had preached around the world, and his lips were qui, ering. B* the time she finished, the glor* of the 3ord was in her li,ing room. I said, 9Sister White, I want *ou to do me a fa,or. 2his is m* good friend, and I want *ou to la* *our hands on him.9 As soon as she put her hands on him, he 6ust came unglued< -e cried and kept on cr*ing. God wrung him out like a rag< As we were lea, ing, I asked him, 9Aid *ou e,er meet an*bod* who knows God like she does> When she starts talking, God comes in her house<9

My First Casting-Out Experien e

Another one of m* most memorable e0periences in the 3ord in,ol,ed a woman= but this woman had a de,il, and for the first time in m* life, it was m* responsibilit* to cast that de,il out. 3ester Sumrall once asked me to speak a %

few minutes at a meeting in San Bernardino, )alifornia. -e said, 92hat:s where the -ell:s Angels are from. Wh* don:t *ou go with me while *ou are in that area> It would be good for the congregation to hear from a businessman who lo,es God. Before I speak, take about fifteen minutes to gi,e a testimon* from a businessman:s ,iewpoint.9 I agreed to go with him. 2he first night I ga,e about a fifteen"minute testimon* of what ;esus means to a businessman. I got through gi,ing the testimon*, but as I walked off the stage, the Spirit of the 3ord came on me and I began to weep. 2he -ol* Ghost said to me, 9Aon:t lea,e this meeting.9 So after the ser,ice I told Brother 3ester, 92he -ol* Spirit reall* blessed me because I ga,e that testimon*. -e told me not to lea,e this meeting.9 ow, the 3ord told me not to lea,e because -e had a reason wh* -e wanted me to sta* at that meeting. It:s so important for *ou to obe* God. !'

When God tells *ou to do something, -e usuall* won:t e,er tell *ou the reason wh* -e:s telling *ou to do it. 7ou first ha,e to obe* -im, and then -e will show *ou. So I decided to sta* around until I got a release from God. 3ester said, 97ou can help me pra* at the altar. I pra* for a lot of people.9 I said, 9All right, 6ust an*thing *ou want me to do. If I:m going to be here, I might as well be doing something.9 So the ne0t morning and night came, and nothing had happened. At the ne0t morning meeting, I was sitting on the front row the wa* I usuall* did when 3ester ga,e an in,itation. 2his one woman got up and walked down to the front. She looked as if she were normal, 6ust standing there. So I got up out of m* seat, because I had been assisting 3ester in his pra*er ministr*. I stood at the front waiting for 3ester to 6oin us. But this woman didn:t wait for 3ester !!

to come down off the stage? she walked up to me. She said, 9Would *ou please pra* for me> 5,er* time I go downtown to shop, I park m* car at a parking meter. I walk up the street a few steps, and something 6umps on top of me and makes me ha,e back pain so badl* I can:t stand it. I can:t e,en shop< I ha,e to go back home, and the pain lasts for three or four hours. I 6ust pra* until I finall* get a release, and then I:m all right. .lease pra* for me.9 Well, I had ne,er pra*ed for an*bod* before that had something 6ump on their back all the time. I was 6ust a nice Baptist fellow< So ! said, 92hat:s oka*, I:ll pra* for *ou. Gi,e me *our hands. I:ll 6ust hold *our hands and ask the 3ord to bless *ou.9 So she ga,e me her hands. 2he moment m* hands touched her hands, she 6umped back and looked at me and began to growl< I was from the Birst Baptist )hurch, I had ne,er seen an*thing like that<

!C

2he congregation looked like the* had ne,er seen an*thing like that either. I looked up at 3ester Sumrall, and he was standing against the pulpit 6ust as calm as he could be. And I was a ner,ous wreck< 2his woman was growling at me<
I thought to m*self, 2his cra@* woman looks like she wants to fight< She looks like she:s going to attack me< But, of course, I know she won:t, because we:re in church<

But she 6ust kept staring at me, growling< I thought, 9Grrr, *ourself, I don:t e,en know what *ou:re doing<9 She growled some more, and then she tore into me< Well, I had alread* made up m* mind I wasn:t going to let this cra@* woman beat me up in church< I thought to m*self, If she starts
hitting me, I'm going to throw her on the floor!

So when she tore into me, I grabbed her b* one of her arms and I held her off from me. DIt:s ne,er nice to whip a woman in church<E I had a real grip on her, and she groaned and growled more and more. Binall* she 6ust fell !1

on the floor. I thought this was the strangest church ser,ice I had e,er been in< I was new in the )harismatic Fo,ement, and I was tr*ing to be a nice Bull Gospel Businessman who 6ust pra*ed nice pra*ers for people. All of a sudden I heard a ,oice sa*, 9)ast that thing out of her<9 I 6umped< It was 3ester who said it. I asked, 9Fe>9 -e said, 97eah.9 Immediatel* I began to get hot flashes. I was embarrassed because I didn:t know what to do. I thought to m*self, What thing? What
thing am I suppose to !ast out of her? "oes she have a #HIN$ in her? Feanwhile, this woman is still

l*ing on the floor groaning and moaning. 2hen 3ester said, 9And don:t let her talk either<9
So I thought to m*self, /ka*, cast that thing out of her and don:t let her talk. What am I supposed to do, 6ust raise her up, slap

!&

her in the face, and sa*, :Be gone:> It:s not nice to slap a woman, period=especiall* in church< Well, 3ester:s brother"in"law, Ge,erend Furph*, was there. I thank God for Ge,erend Furph*< -e was sitting on the front row on the other side of me. -e scooted out of his seat and got on his knees beside this woman and said, 9)ome out of her, in ;esus: name<9 Well, I learned a long time ago if *ou act like *ou know what *ou are doing, nobod* will know that *ou:re ignorant. So I said, 97eah< )ome out of her<9 2hat:s the first time I e,er said that. ! had no earthl* idea what I was talking to. I was 6ust cop*ing Ge,erend Furph*, because he acted as if he knew what he was doing. But I surel* didn:t know what I was doing< 2hen Ge,erend Furph* said, 9I said, :/be* me and come out of her<:9 -e said it strong< !#

So I said, 97eah, and I said it too< )ome out of her< Whate,er *ou are, come out of her<9 5,er* time he said it, I would also sa* it. While he was holding her head up, she suddenl* became limp. I thought to m*self, %h my $o , we've &ille her! I had been going to see Gene Autr*, Go* Gogers, and -op"A" 3ong )assid* mo,ies e,er since I was a little kid, and that:s the wa* the* all died in Westerns< 2wo or three minutes passed, then suddenl* Ge,erend Furph* reached down, took her b* the hand, and raised her up. I looked at her and she was cr*ing. She seemed to ha,e changed into another human being< She looked like an angel. 2hen she began sa*ing, 9/h, thank 7ou, ;esus.9
I thought to m*self, F*, m*, m*, she looks like an angel. She turned from a horrible creature that wanted to fight into somebod* who looks like an angel. Bo*, this is something else<

While I was standing there, the 3ord said, !8

97ou can go now. 7ou can lea,e.9 So I was released from the 3ord to lea,e that meeting. I informed 3ester and then left. But, *ou see, the 3ord wanted me to see all of that. I thought that Ge,erend Sumrall:s ministr* was real nice, but I didn:t identif* m*self with it. 2hat was Ge,erend Sumrall and Ge,erend Furph*? the* both had good ministries. But I ne,er thought that God would want me to get in,ol,ed with an*thing like that=I was Birst Baptist<

Three !e"elations From Mar# $%

About four or fi,e da*s later, I was in )hattanooga, 2ennessee, dri,ing around conducting business. All of a sudden the Spirit of the 3ord mo,ed upon me in m* car and said, 9Go stud* the si0teenth chapter of the Book of Fark, right now<9 An urgenc* came upon me so that I couldn:t wait until I got to m* house< I 6umped out of the car and ran into the house. I opened up the Bible to the si0teenth !$

chapter of the Book of Fark. 2hat da* I got three re,elation manifestations from God in that one chapter. I want to share with *ou what God showed me. 3et:s read beginning with ,erse !. &nd 'hen the sa((ath 'as past) Mary Magdalene) and Mary the mother of *ames) and +alome) had (ought s'eet spi es) that they might ome and anoint him, &nd "ery early in the morning the first day of the 'ee#) they ame unto the sepul hre at the rising of the sun, &nd they said among themsel"es) Who shall roll us a'ay the stone from the door of the sepul hre&nd 'hen they loo#ed) they sa' that the stone 'as rolled a'ay. for it 'as "ery great, &nd entering into the sepul hre) they sa' a young man sitting on the !(

tears of 6o* and peace. I felt the lo,e of God so strong, I couldn:t hardl* stand it. When the glor* of the 3ord finall* let up, I looked back at the Bible to read the ninth ,erse. 1o' 'hen *esus 'as risen early the first day of the 'ee#) he appeared first to Mary Magdalene) out of 'hom he had ast se"en de"ils, Mar# $%.6 /n this earth we ha,e some great preachers, Bible scholars, churches, and crusades. But the strongest tool in all the world is the pure lo,e of God.

Why *esus &ppeared to Mary Magdalene First

I belie,e the reason that ;esus appeared to Far* Fagdalene first was that she lo,ed -im most. ow I don:t ha,e an* scripture to back me up, but I belie,e that if *ou will ask God, C'

*ou will find out that is true. 7ou see, Far* Fagdalene was looking for -im. She wasn:t sitting at her house with hardness of heart and unbelief. She belie,ed what -e said, and she was looking for -im. What the 3ord was doing that da* in m* house, as I studied Fark chapter !8, was establishing in me a ministr* that would last all m* life. When I read that ninth ,erse, 7Out of 'hom he had ast se"en de"ils)7 immediatel* m* mind went back to San Bernardino, )alifornia. I remembered what Ge,erend Furph* had said to that woman, 9)ome out of her< I cast *ou out of her<9 When that woman re,i,ed again after falling to the floor, she looked like she had recei,ed the same thing I was recei, ing right then=the lo,e of God. 2hen I reali@ed that she recei,ed that lo,e because a de,il was cast out of her< So what I saw at that moment was that if someone was being buffeted or possessed or oppressed with a de,il, and *ou break its C!

power and make it lea,e the person, that person will lo,e *ou, and the* will lo,e God. 3et:s continue reading from the Book of Fark. ,,,appeared first to Mary Magdalene) out of 'hom he had ast se"en de"ils, &nd she 'ent and told them that had (een 'ith him) as they mourned and 'ept, Mar# $%.6)$8 It had been three da*s, and people were still mourning and weeping, because the* lo,ed ;esus so much. &nd she 'ent and told them that had (een 'ith him) as they mourned and 'ept, &nd they) 'hen they had heard that he 'as ali"e) and had (een seen of her) (elie"ed not,

hardness of heart and unbelief. 2he* didn:t belie,e ;esus had risen from the dead. But when ;esus walked through the wall and appeared to them and talked to them, then, of course, the* finall* belie,ed.

The Most ;mportant Words *esus E"er +po#e

When I read that particular ,erse about the danger of people ha,ing hardness of heart and unbelief and not recei, ing an*thing from God, these words began to boil up out of me? it was a word from the 3ordH 9 ow these are the most important words that e,er came out of F* mouth.9 &nd he said unto them) Go ye into all the 'orld) and preach the
gospel to every creature. Mar# $%.$<

But that:s not what that means. 5,er*bod* in the world who is born again can preach the greatest sermon in the world b* opening up his mouth and telling what ;esus has done for him. 2here isn:t a person that can:t do that. 2hat ,erse doesn:t specificall* mean *ou ha,e to be called to a public ministr*=6ust open up *our mouth. .aul said, 9If *ou:ll open *our mouth, the -ol* Ghost will put words in *our mouth.9 7ou know what the 3ord has done for *ou? 6ust gi,e *our testimon*. 2ell about what *ou used to be, and what *ou are now that the 3ord sa,ed *ou. 7ou don:t ha,e to go into all the gor* C#
