30) Focus : Reading Themes : world of self Topic / unit : 1 Content standard : 2.1 Learning standard : 2.1.2 Able to blend phonemes into recognizable words and read them aloud. 2.1.3 Able to segment words into phonemes to spell. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to articulate and blend the phonemes of the words. Activities : 1. Revise with pupils the phonemes and sounds they have learnt in Year 1. 2. Scatter a few letters on the board. 3. Pick pupils randomly. Sound the phonemes and have them pick the letters that match the sound. 4. Divide the class into three groups. Pupils will have to pick the letters from the box as the teacher sounds them. Pupils will also have to say the word.
