Each of our guests contributed in one way or another to our lives and ministry. For example: Colt was a big help to our members with their computer problems and needs. His mom Barbara helped us with the English classes. Pastor Dari & Regina preached and shared the word and about their trip to Israel. Walter & Gabi shared from the word and their mission experiences in Paraguay. Dan & Oskar with their music gave us joy, even having a Saxophone player in our Sunday service. Together with our guests we went to help serving tea to the Refugees on Sunday evening. We met some Italian, English and even Swedish speaking refugees to our surprise. One refugee used to translate for the USA army and now he is here in Europe with dreams to help his family. Please pray for the refugees and opportunities to share the gospel with them.
Our Italian language classes ended and we took the test. No results until the Fall but Gloria continues to develop well and Marty just attended a preaching workshop in Italian and will enter a one month advanced Italian course this September.
Sandra has had a most difficult life. Having children in Peru she came to Italy 7 years ago and the Lord found her here. She has a 6 year old son who is autistic and needed to get out of an abusive relationship. She lives in a squatter village in an abandoned warehouse. We enjoyed a meal with her. 3 Athletes in Action Team from Holland At the end of July into August we welcomed a sports team, some of whom we met a few months ago. The timing of their visit fell during the heat of the summer, when many leave the city of Rome to cooler places. But we still had opportunity to meet people and use sport as a way of outreach even though the parks were empty during the day. A notable event was meeting some youth hanging out under bridge, where games and skits where presented and meaningful conversations developed about faith. We followed up with a barbeque night and hope to continue to keep contact with them. We also visited other parks as the team made many meaningful contacts. Our friends from Sweden brought a much needed lift in music as we have watched our worship team lose four people in the last half year moving out of Italy. We enjoyed Dan & Oskars musical talent. Oskar played the Saxophone beautifully, so we had a wonderful music concert at Breccia di Roma church where Dan used their organ for the first time.
Along with learning about the refugee crisis over the last half year, we have also attended two seminars on human trafficking in a general sense, yet also one focused on Nigeria sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior of the Italian government. These events help us to develop our network and further our Italian language and social service connections. Prayer & Praise
! Always pray for our health, it has been good! ! Protection when we are in public transportation: bus, train, walking etc. ! Wisdom to pastor the congregation ! Be a witness to the landlord & neighbors ! Italian language learning ! Praise for teams and help in ministry ! Renewing our residence permit ! Continued funding for our work ! Thankful for our church offerings that pays our meeting places rent
