TRANSISTOR
A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch electronic signals and electronic power . It is composed of semiconductor material with atleast three terminals for connection to a external circuit . A voltage or current applied to one of the terminals of transistor changes the current through another pair of terminals .

Because the controlling output power is higher than controlling input power a transistor can amplify a signal . Today some transistors are packaged individually while most of them are embedded into the circuits.

Transistor is the fundamental block of modern electronic devices following its development in 1947 by John Bardeen , Waltter Brattain , and William Shockley transistor revolutionized the field of electronics and paved the way for small electronic devices .

Transistor is on the list of IEEE milestone in electronics and inventers are jointly awarded 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for their achievement .

Different types of Transistors:

A Darlington Transistor

Transistor we are seeing here is the replica of first ever found Transistor .

TFET
TFET refers to Tunnel Field Effect Transistor it is a new type of transistor revieled in United States ,which according to developers , would pave way to faster and lower power electronic devices .

Called a near broken gap TFET , the device makes use of quantum mechanical tunneling of electrons through an ultra thin energy barrier to provide high current at low voltage .

Above diagram shows the conctruction of TFET.
