Acupressure - is a form of touch therapy that utilizes the principles of acupuncture

and Chinese medicine. In acupressure, the same points on the body are
used as in acupuncture, but are stimulated with finger pressure instead
of with the insertion of needles. Acupressure is used to relieve a variety
of symptoms and pain.

Acupuncture - is the procedure of inserting and manipulating fine filiform needles

into specific points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic
purposes. The word acupuncture comes from the Latin acus, "needle",
and pungere, "to prick".
- According to l Chinese medical theory, acupuncture points are situated
on meridians along which qi, the vital energy, flows. There is no known
anatomical or histological basis for the existence of acupuncture points
or meridians. Modern acupuncture texts present them as ideas that are
useful in clinical practice. According to the NIH consensus statement on
acupuncture, these traditional Chinese medical concepts "are difficult to
reconcile with contemporary biomedical information but continue to
play an important role in the evaluation of patients and the formulation
of treatment in acupuncture."

Shiatsu - (Japanese from shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaning pressure) is a
traditional hands-on therapy originating in Japan. Shiatsu technique
refers to the use of fingers and palm of one's hand to apply pressure to
particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose of
correcting the imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and
promoting health. It is also a method contributing to the healing of
specific illnesses.

Bentusa - is a procedure wherein heat is used to produce a vacuum under a

series of strategically placed glasses. This sucks the skin taking away
the negative energy that contributes to back and shoulder pain. I use
this when patients have more severe problem and are not responding to
normal massage. Bentusa can also be used on a periodic basis as a
preventative measure before a serious condition takes hold in the body.

Yoga - refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in

India. The word is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism,
Buddhism and Jainism. In Hinduism, it also refers to one of the six
orthodox (āstika) schools of Hindu philosophy, and to the goal toward
which that school directs its practices. In Jainism it refers to the sum
total of all activities—mental, verbal and physical.

Meditation - referred to as the art of consciousness becoming aware of itself on the

grand and cosmic scale. Meditation cannot be called a science as yet,
because science requires testing with objectively proven methods and
results. Meditation is on the road to becoming a real science, however,
and not just an intuitive art veiled in mystery.
- considered a type of mind-body complementary medicine, produces
a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. During meditation, you
focus your attention and eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that
may be crowding your mind and causing stress. This process results in
enhanced physical and emotional well-being.
