( A Course in Miracles ); => Sai Baba calls this process SELF-INQUIRY (75% of the Spiritual path) => this process is occurring every single moment of your life and if you are not choosing & causing your life, who is? => the answer = the non-reasoning, subconscious mind, the astral body, the negative ego & inner child, all of which were never meant to direct one's life "THE MIND CREATES BONDAGE & THE MIND CREATES LIBERATION!" - SAI BABA: the mind is an incredible tool => the key question is, how do we use this tool so it only works for us I. and not against us IT IS ESSENTIAL TO LEARN TO QUIET THE MIND, OTHERWISE ONE CANNOT TRULY OBTAIN INNER PEACE: in the Eastern world they often call the mind the "monkey mind" II. because it is so hard to quiet it FIRST KEY TO QUIET THE MIND = OWN YOUR PERSONAL POWER AT ALL TIMES AND BE CONSCIOUS & AWARE OF YOUR THOUGHTS, FEELINGS, DESIRES & THE CONTENTS OF CONSCIOUSNESS : the owning of your personal power helps you to be the observer & have the needed detachment and/or dis-identification from the contents of consciousness that is needed to have self-mastery over your mind, emotions, desires & III. content of consciousness (read Dr Stone's book " Soul Psychology ") MOST PEOPLE ALLOW THEMSELVES TO LIVE ON AUTOMATIC PILOT : which means they are allowing the subconscious mind to run their lives instead of the conscious mind IV. with personal power causing, creating & choosing one's life & reality GOLDEN BUBBLE OF PROTECTION: protects you from the negative thoughts, feelings & content of consciousness from the outside world => all negative thoughts & feelings & energies coming from other people or your environment should be denied entrance so again V. you are always causing & choosing your own reality from within & without

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE MIND COMPLETELY FROM THINKING & ONE SHOULD NOT DESIRE TO DO SO : for it is not God's Will that it be completely stopped => we are creative by nature and we create with our mind; however, THE MIND CAN BE QUIETED DOWN AND IT CAN & MUST BE MASTERED SO WE ARE NOT DRIVEN BY IT => most people in the Western world are driven by the mind - the mind runs them instead of them running the mind which takes away their inner peace often causing insomnia, headaches, stress & even emotional turmoil => too much thinking also takes a toll on the physical organs (when you consciously think & are constantly planning, this runs energy through your liver, the "organ of planning" and pancreas => many people have digestive problems from doing so ); in India it is the opposite => both are important and need to be balanced & integrated properly ... THERE IS A TIME TO THINK & A TIME NOT TO THINK ESSENTIAL - PSYCHOSPIRITUAL CLOTHING TO START THE DAY : every morning start your day fully claiming your personal power, unconditional self-love, golden bubble of protection & attunement to God => this along with your overall Spiritual consciousness will attune your consciousness & mind to the proper I. perspective to start your day THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND IS ALWAYS THINKING & CREATING IN A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE WAY BECAUSE IT HAS NO REASONING - KEY INSIGHT = THAT THE CONSCIOUS MIND DOES NOT HAVE TO ENGAGE THE CONTINUING STRING OF THOUGHTS, FEELINGS & IMPULSES OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND : so it is important in life to learn to think properly as it II. is not to think at all THE MIND = ALWAYS STRIVING FOR INNER PEACE & UNDERSTANDING : the challenge is that it is not possible every moment of one's life to have this understanding in every situation of life in any given moment => it is essential at times to put the mind on a shelf and just be III. in the quietness & silence

ZEN-LIKE MEDITATION : this is where there is no flow of information & one just experiences the silence & peace of God => when all one's thoughts & feelings are in proper perspective & order, then one can just be in the silence & V. enjoy the peace

IF THE MIND IS ALWAYS CHATTERING & THE CONSCIOUS MIND = ENGAGING, THEN HOW DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT, MIGHTY I AM PRESENCE AND/OR HIGHER SELF ENTER THE PICTURE : they are the "Still, Small Voice Within" => they do not fight for attention as the mind, emotions & negative ego does => that is the same as people who are constantly praying (talking to God) but IV. never meditating (listening to God)

THERE IS A TIME TO IDENTIFY & A TIME TO DIS-IDENTIFY WITH THE CONTENT OF ONE'S CONSCIOUSNESS : *it is important at times to think, do affirmations, visualize, pray, repeat the Names of God, chant, do mantras, create, achieve & identify with God and the positive aspect of one's content of consciousness and *there is a time to just be quiet & still, be in the quiet & stillness of no thought, no specific feeling, no specific creation and do *not* identify with the content of consciousness, even positive or Spiritual content
JUST BECAUSE THE MIND GIVES YOU A THOUGHT, FEELING, IMPULSE OR CREATIVE IDEA OF A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE NATURE, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT OR I. DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE INSOMNIA CAN'T SLEEP BECAUSE THEY CANNOT QUIET THEIR MIND : if it is late & you have to get up early, even if you are thinking about a lot of really positive things, it II. is better to stop thinking even positive thoughts, otherwise you won't be able to sleep THE MIND AS A TELEVISION SET (METAPHOR): it is essential to not only change the channels of your mind with your channel changer (=your conscious mind), it is also essential at times to shut off the TV and let it rest for awhile => this state of total dis-identification from the contents of consciousness is a wonderful, enjoyable, rejuvenating & healing state in & of itself => there are subconscious TV programs, conscious TV programs (when the conscious mind engages the content of consciousness), Superconscious TV programs and the state of no thought when the III. TV is shut off and just stillness & quietness is enjoyed REPEATING MANTRAS OR THE NAME OF GOD TO QUIET THE MIND : common practice in India and tool to keep the subconscious mind & conscious mind preoccupied => this does not replace the IV. need, however, to quiet the mind completely LESSON 2 = TO LEARN TO PUT THOUGHTS, FEELINGS, IMPULSES, DESIRES & CREATIVE IDEAS V. ON THE SHELF AND PICK THEM UP THE NEXT DAY WRITING LISTS: the mind will be quiet as long as it feels honored to a certain degree => when you are doing an activity and you just don't want to think about anything and the mind presents a number of things that need to be done tomorrow, keep a little notebook with you in your purse, or pants pocket and just write all these things down on your "tomorrow list" => your mind will be VI. perfectly happy to be quiet as long as it is on the "tomorrow list"

TO PROCESS & THINK PROPERLY = one of the most important abilities, tools & understandings you will ever develop ... because your thoughts create your reality!
HAVE A JOURNAL SECTION IN YOUR NOTEBOOK: where if you are processing something & you do not want to think about it, you can write a little affirmation that says something like "I will not think about this until next Friday afternoon (or whatever day)" => even if something is really bothering you, as long as the mind knows that its agenda is being addressed it will be willing to be quiet & honor your affirmation to not think => IMPORTANT: if your mind brings it up after this deadline then you must think about it or create a new deadline ; the physical act of writing the affirmation down creates a strong impression on the mind that shows you are serious & that you have a system to meet your own requirements & the mind's as well => the mind will II. cooperate as long as it feels integrated into the whole plan & process of your life MAKE A NUMBER LIST IN YOUR MIND FROM ONE UPWARD : this tool is useful because sometimes you may not have a pen & paper => each number will be one item on the agenda of the mind to think about or do (making this list = like writing it down on a piece of paper for your III. "tomorrow list") THE ISSUE OF EMOTIONAL TURMOIL: since our thoughts create our feelings & emotions, the mind is always creating scenarios => i.e.: if you have a little spat with a family member, it is good to process this with your mind & come to a peaceful resolution; however, if there are any unresolved feelings, then the mind will create scenarios of taking out its anger or telling people off => it is very important to shut these scenarios off for they are being created by the IV. negative ego and not by your Soul & Mighty I AM

ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS TO QUIET THE MIND = IT JUST FEELS GOOD NOT TO ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THINKING & DOING : the mind always wants to think, create, achieve & do => if we allow the mind to run us, we become driven & run by the subpersonality called the "pusher" ; on the other side there are Spiritual & psychological groups that are anti-mind which is a prerequisite to creating corruption; THE KEY = TO CHOOSE WHEN YOU WANT TO THINK & HOW YOU WANT TO THINK AND TO BE ABLE TO NOT THINK WHEN YOU DON'T WANT TO ; make the mind work for you rather than you working for your mind => this all comes back to the Spiritual, psychological V. ideal of achieving self-mastery in all aspects of life & on all levels

LOOKING AT A SPECIFIC OBJECT OR WHITE SPOT OR LIGHT ON THE WALL IN FRONT OF YOU AS YOU ARE LAYING DOWN: this spot = like your "clear button" every time you look at it because you make an arrangement with your mind that this is the case => so you look at this spot, then close your eyes, then your mind most likely will start working on a million projects; however, you make a CONSCIOUS CHOICE not to engage them => the mind does anyway on a subconscious level ; if it is something negative or something you don't want to think about, open your eyes & look at this spot which will you clear your mind & then start again => this breaks the chain of thought forms instead of just always trying to do it in your mind ; sometimes it is a faster & more I. effective way of stopping some of the stronger thought form trains

FOCUS YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS ON YOUR BREATHING : when you want to sleep and you close your eyes, focus your consciousness on following your breathing => don't make yourself breathe, just watch the process of your breathing => this takes one's consciousness out of the mental body & takes one into a much deeper state of consciousness .... even if you don't fall asleep every time, the act of just lying down & closing your eyes and not engaging the mind, using this particular II. tool, can be very rejuvenating & refreshing SOMETIMES ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO PROCESS YOUR REALITY & RESOLVE THINGS = TO NOT THINK AT ALL => DELAY THINKING : in any given moment everything your mind & emotions create seems so important & real => t he act of delaying thinking about their different issues sometimes resolves them without having to spend time thinking, processing, talking, journal writing, or doing anything BECAUSE THE EMOTIONAL CHARGE IS OFTEN GONE BY THE TIME TO YOU THINK ABOUT IT AND HENCE THE THOUGHT OR ISSUE OR THING TO DO MAY NOT NEED TO BE DONE .... issues that seemed so important in the moment, a week later you won't even remember; however, certain issues do need to be addressed at a later time no matter how long one puts them off; CREATE A LIST IN YOUR JOURNAL TO DELAY THE THINKING OR PROCESSING ABOUT CERTAIN ISSUES FOR A WEEK OR SOME OF THEM FOR SIX MONTHS OR A YEAR => the mind is perfectly willing to let go of these issues for the moment as long as it knows that they will be addressed at a later time 100% for sure, because you will be reviewing your journal sections at a later time and so you will not be able to avoid confronting this issue again in the future => learning to delay thinking about things = an important tool & ability to develop because we all have very busy lives & important things to do and it is not possible to resolve & do everything one would like in any given one day => SO LIFE COMES DOWN TO MAKING PRIORITIES , it comes down to being able to integrate & balance one's Spiritual, mental, emotional & physical /Earthly life and to choose which particular Face of God & Level of God needs to be accessed at any given moment; IT IS ESSENTIAL TO BE ABLE TO FOCUS ONE'S TOTAL CONCENTRATION ON ONE ISSUE & NOT BE HAMPERED OR BOTHERED BY THESE OTHER ISSUES; using these tools allows you to choose your priorities & not be bothered by these other issues and yet not be irresponsible about them either

LIVING IN NEGATIVE DENIAL & REPRESSION: this is having the ability not to think but doing so in a very irresponsible manner, believing that not thinking about certain issues will resolve them => this will never work and their karma will catch up with them & constantly pester them; THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF DENIAL - SPIRITUAL DENIAL & NEGATIVE EGO DENIAL; SPIRITUAL DENIAL = good , it is the ability to deny any thought not of God to enter your mind; NEGATIVE EGO DENIAL = incorrect , it is denying God thoughts & information and trying to block the truth of one's I. reality because of some distorted negative ego psychology & belief system MAKING SPIRITUAL LISTS = A TYPE OF AFFIRMATION & ATTITUDINAL HEALING : extremely effective & useful because SINCE YOUR THOUGHTS CREATE YOUR REALITY & YOU SEE WITH YOUR MIND, NOT JUST YOUR PHYSICAL EYES, THIS WILL PROFOUNDLY CHANGE YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS & YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT SELF & WILL REPROGRAM YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND ; anytime you have something bothering you or something goes wrong on a major level, write a Spiritual list depending on what you need right now => i.e. ***if you are feeling unhappy , write Spiritual lists of all the reasons you can think of that you have to be happy about; ***or anytime you need some upliftment , create a Spiritual list of all the reasons you have to be grateful; ***if you are having feelings of low self-esteem, or lack of self-love & self-worth , create a Spiritual list of all your victories you have achieved in your life on all levels, no matter how small ("victory log"); ***if you are having physical health lessons , create a Spiritual list which will serve as a Spiritual battle plan for all the things you are going to do to make yourself healthy & win this battle to return to perfect radiant health; *** make a Spiritual list every day of everything you have to do on all levels => even though you are not physically healthy yet, the Spiritual list will help you feel on top of the Spiritual lesson on a mental & emotional level by having a good battle plan & being organized ; ***if you are having money problems , make a Spiritual list & battle plan of everything you are going to do to get on top of this situation (i.e.: prayers, affirmations, visualizations, physical actions); ***if you start getting depressed for some reason, make a Spiritual list of all the reasons not to be depressed; ***if you start doubting yourself , make a Spiritual list of all the reasons not to doubt yourself; => a lot of people feel stressed out because they feel they are not getting enough done or they feel overwhelmed with all the work they need to do; THE SIMPLE ACT OF MAKING A SPIRITUAL LIST WILL MAKE YOU FEEL ORGANIZED & ON TOP OF THINGS EVEN IF YOU DO NOT GET THEM DONE PHYSICALLY; even just the reading over of a list that you have made in the past and/or II. underlining the key points on that list can do wonders to uplift your consciousness THE MIND = QUIET WHEN THE EMOTIONAL & MENTAL BODY FEEL AT PEACE & IN HARMONY: when you are feeling negative about yourself or you are having negative interactions with other people or your world, the mind will be much more agitated & overactive which can be exhausting & will exhaust your adrenal glands; too much stress & crisis causes the mind to go into survival mode & be overactive which ends up tapping the adrenal glands & adrenaline too much => this also takes a toll on the immune system; many Lightworkers have adrenal exhaustion from too much III. stress & crisis in their life

IT IS ESSENTIAL TO LEARN TO CREATE INNER PEACE WITHIN SELF & IN ALL ONE'S RELATIONSHIPS : it is of the highest importance in life to learn how to think & process your life properly and to also learn how not to think when that is appropriate => IF YOU LEARN TO HAVE SELF-MASTERY OVER YOUR MIND & ALWAYS USE IT PROPERLY AND USE IT AS A CREATIVE TOOL THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU, IT WILL BE YOUR GREATEST ALLY & FRIEND AND WILL ALLOW YOU TO ACHIEVE LIBERATION IN YOUR LIFE FROM YOUR OWN I. NEGATIVE EGO .... "The mind creates bondage & the mind creates liberation!" - Sai Baba IT IS NOT THAT THE MIND IS BAD, IT IS THE NEGATIVE EGO THAT NEEDS TO BE TRANSCENDED : many Eastern philosophies & Western schools of thought & psychology who think it is hip to be anti-mind have confused II. the negative ego mind with the mind => hence, the negative ego has corrupted their teachings BY LEARNING TO THINK PROPERLY AND BY KEEPING YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE UP & UP AND FEELING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF, THE MIND WILL BE QUIETER BECAUSE YOU ARE AT PEACE: so to learn to III. quiet the mind it is essential to learn to think properly as well

SPIRITUAL VOWS AS A TOOL TO QUIET THE MIND : many times in life we make a mistake and/or things don't go our way and hence there may be lessons to learn => * if you make a mistake, instead of feeling bad about it, dwelling upon it & letting it get you down, immediately create another section in your journal for your Spiritual vows , i.e.: "I hereby 100% forgive myself & unconditionally love myself in regards to this mistake. I now learn my lesson and I will never allow this to happen ever again!" => THIS SIMPLE STATEMENT HEALS THE WHOLE PROCESS BY CREATING SELF-FORGIVENESS & UNCONDITIONAL SELF-LOVE AND AFFIRMS THE LESSON HAS BEEN LEARNED AND YOU WILL NEVER ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN EVER AGAIN which puts you back into your personal power & Spiritual warrior battling spirit which is essential to have every moment of your life => ONE'S WILL TO LIVE = ONE'S WILL TO FIGHT FOR GOD & EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE IN ; this short Spiritual vow will serve as alchemy to transform this negative experience into Spiritual gold; because you have made this Spiritual vow it is almost good that this mistake occurred because you have now consciously learned this lesson and your decision to never allow this to happen again is like steel which will serve you well in the future & will save you untold suffering in the future because of the Spiritual vigilance you now hold & have because of this Spiritual vow ; the fact that you have written it down makes it even stronger along with the fact that you keep all your IV. Spiritual vows in a special section in your journal which you can review anytime you want if you have the need EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A MISTAKE OR SOMETHING GOES WRONG YOU MAKE A SPIRITUAL VOW WHICH EMPOWERS YOU A THOUSAND TIMES MORE THAN YOU WERE BEFORE IT HAPPENED : and the fact that you are making a serious Spiritual vow will doubly ensure that it will never happen again which is also comforting => hence, that which could have impeded your progress has become a rocket launcher to take you to even higher & more refined levels of Spiritual growth & success ; the Spiritual vow also serves to affirm & solidify the fact that the lesson has been learned which also helps => IF YOU ARE DEPRESSED OR AGITATED BECAUSE OF A SETBACK OR MISTAKE, YOUR MIND IS GOING TO BE OVERACTIVE TRYING TO GET YOU BACK TO EQUILIBRIUM & INNER PEACE => making a Spiritual vow and/or Spiritual list is a super quick method to almost instantly bring you back to this state of inner peace & feeling good about yourself so your mind can then settle down & be quiet

ONE'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE PAST: *it is very important to not let your mind focus inappropriately on the past or hold grudges against self for mistakes, which causes one to experience regret & guilt => it is okay to focus on the past a little bit as in the case of sometimes enjoying past memories & experiences; *it is also important to examine the past in terms of learning from past mistakes & good actions; => however, other than this one should live in the NOW and always be moving towards the future in terms of achieving one's Spiritual goals & priorities; THE PAST = JUST THOUGHTS & IMAGES IN YOUR MIND - YOU CAN BE THE MASTER OF YOUR PAST BY LEARNING TO HAVE SELF-MASTERY OVER THE THOUGHTS & IMAGES IN YOUR MIND ; thoughts & images are really the same thing, they are in a sense two sides of the same coin => sometimes our thoughts come in thought form & sometimes they come in thought images (all principles & tools mentioned in this lesson apply equally to both); THE BEST TOOL I. FOR REGRET & GUILT = SELF-FORGIVENESS & UNCONDITIONAL SELF-LOVE ONE'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE FUTURE : *the future does not really exist except as thoughts & images in our mind => excitement is looking forward to the future, worry is dreading the future; WHEN WE MASTER THE THOUGHTS & IMAGES WE ALLOW INTO OUR CONSCIOUSNESS, WE CONTROL OUR FUTURE ; all that really exists, in truth, is the Eternal Now; * it is important to plan for the future but not over-plan and to prepare but not over-prepare ; *it is okay to occasionally just think about the future; however, one II. must have Spiritual discernment so as to stay in the realm of appropriateness "WHY WORRY WHEN YOU CAN PRAY!" - UNIVERSAL MIND THROUGH EDGAR CAYCE: prayer is one of the best tools to stop your mind from worrying & hence thinking too much for it puts one back into faith, trust & patience ; taken these perspectives in relationship to the past & future will greatly III. help you to quiet your mind on a daily & moment-to-moment basis ANOTHER AFFIRMATION TYPE PROCESS AS A TOOL TO QUIET THE MIND: very often in life, there are certain thoughts, images, feelings, impulses & desires that you don't like and do not want to think about, feel or act upon => look upon your conscious & subconscious mind as a compute r => if a particular process is bothering you, create an affirmation in this special section of your journal as follows, "I now completely and 100% erase this program!" => this will be helpful in about 50% of the cases; the act of physically doing this in a special place in your journal will put up a block in your mind & consciousness to that previous process ; sometimes you will need to go one step further & also include in the affirmation the new positive program or affirmation you will be adding, hence, the affirmation then will read something like, "I now 100% completely erase this program and I now affirm and substitute in its place this particular process!" (i.e.: forgiveness, unconditional love & nonjudgmentalness if you are IV. feeling angry with someone) THERE IS A BALANCE TO FIND IN LIFE BETWEEN LEARNING TO THINK & LEARNING AT TIMES TO V. NOT ENGAGE THINKING WHEN IT SERVES YOU TO DO SO
