Group Governance Portfolio at Rietvlei. LEGAL ADVISOR (HAYBAND N) OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY Assisting in the effective and efficient management of legal strategy concentrating on water sector legislation, regulations and inter-governmental relations; water sector institutional framework strategies; banking and financial law, Pension Fund Act and related matters; Medical Schemes Act and related matters; financial/treasury agreement drafting and negotiating; contracting strategies to cater for strategic business needs and requirements; and any other matters related to Legal Strategy activities within the organization; and further assisting in management of the Contract Management Framework, protocols and guidelines, providing legal advisory services and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks of the above portfolio; litigation management/opinions/labour law; litigation management/opinions/labour law. PRIMARY DUTIES Provide strategic legal guidance, direction and influence to all internal customers and the Rand Water Group Assess all legal scenarios, negotiate, settle or institute legal proceedings to the best advantage of the Rand Water Group Develop and implement and evaluate innovative approaches to improve the delivery of support and strategic legal services to stakeholders Ensure that Rand Water is informed and abreast of institutional developments within the water environment and specialised areas of law (property, engineering, environment, labour, construction etc.) Appear for and represent the Rand Water Group and present allocated labour disputes before the CCMA and SALGBC and report actions to the relevant Legal Manager and Employee Relations Manager Assess business needs, identifying appropriate legal training, and co-ordinating and conducting workshops and presentations to appropriately targeted internal customers to give effect to the organisations objectives Influencing bylaws towards sanitation which influence Rand Waters Growth Strategy JOB REQUIREMENTS B.Proc Or other similar qualification/ LLB Minimum 5-8 years experience in a similar business environment Ability to represent the group at various forums(Labour, Water, Pension, Tribunals and Rental) Computer literate (PowerPoint, Windows 95, Microsoft Word, Internet, Jutastat, Aktex) Contract drafting, Negotiation, mediation and vetting skills Legal research and drafting opinions in all areas of law Litigation Management Ability to co-ordinate, advise and assist Portfolios, Divisions and Departments in the implementation of impacting legislation Ability to think and act at a strategic level
