The Increase Number of Illegal Immigrants and its Solution For many years, Malaysia had dealt with

the issue of illegal immigration. This problem gave many negative impacts. Thus, some solution must be done to overcome it. The presence of illegal immigrants in Malaysia, had resulted in antisocial activities, like crime (Bernama,2011). They involved in many cases of murder, robbery, and rape. Malaysians felt threatened and unsecured as the number of them kept increasing. Furthermore, according to Sabah police chief, Datuk Hamza Taib , immigrants in Sabah committed 15% of index crimes against locals (Boo Su-Lyn,2013). Another problem is they brought along contagious diseases from their country into country.Cases involving immigrants suffering from infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis had increased over the past five years (Health Minister,2013). Moreover, some of the locals were infected to these diseases from them. Therefore, Health minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam estimated that 7.8% of illegal immigrants suffered from an infectious disease, especially those working in Sabah. It shows that immediate action must be done to overcome this problem. One way to overcome this problem is to implement raids. The Ministry of Home Affairs had launched an operation from Jan 21 2014 (Xinhua,2014), and their bio metric fingerprints would be registered before their deportation to prevent them from getting back to Malaysia. Meanwhile in 2011, a 6P legalization programme was introduced to allow them whether to be legalize or to they can be deported back to their country (Bernama Online,2011). It could reduce the number of them, thus eliminate the crime rates in Malaysia. Another solution is by making cooperation with the Home Ministry to reduce and monitor the entry of illegal immigrants into the country. Foreigners should undergo a health check, and if they fail, they should be sent back to their

country (Health Minister 2013). This solution could prevent the diseases from spreading to community, thus reducing the risk of people to get this infection. Illegal immigration had become a big issue in Malaysia. Therefore, serious steps must be taken to overcome it, as illegal immigrants brought many problems and became burden to our peaceful country.
