CLIENT:

Lyndon J. Libiran Sole Proprietor Libiran Crafts and Woodworks Mc Arthur Highway (near FTI Kadiwa), Barangay Malanday, Valenzuela City Metro Manila, Philippines

ABSTRACT Libiran Crafts and Woodworks is located near the FTI Kadiwa complex at Mc Arthur Highway, Malanday, Valenzuela City and is owned by Lyndon J. Libiran. The said business creates fine wood furniture such as drawers, cabinets, tabletops, divans and beds used in houses, hotels and hospitals; just to name a few. They specialize in custom-ordered pieces of furniture.

Although the business had served many clients, still, they rely on word-ofmouth promotion from satisfied clients to serve as their primary means of advertisement and to help them gain market share. Competition in the furniture making business is tough, thus that kind of advertisement is not enough. The business needs a unique and presentable marketing strategy if acquisition of more customers is desired. In addition, the business cannot present a collection of their previously done projects to interested walk-in clients by means of a showroom due to the location of the business being flood prone and the size of the remaining space that can be allotted being small due to the wood workshops occupied space, thus hindering the decision making of several potential clients and that is not beneficial in increasing the volume of the customers that the business can serve. It has also have to be kept in mind that the business will not consider renting a commercial space for showroom use due to the cumulative cost that the business will shoulder. Lastly, as for the present, orders with its accompanied specifications are received by the business thru phone, which can result to discrepancies between the original design and the final product if the

instructions of the client are not followed such as the desired dimensions and color of the ordered furniture.

Having stated the present situation of the business, this study is proposing solutions that correspond to the needs of the business. Thru the use of the Internet, the business will be equipped with a website that can increase knowledge and interest about Libiran Crafts and Woodworks and the products and services that it provides. An interactive virtual showroom of sample pieces of furniture will be added to provide interested clients with a unique visual information presentation of the kind and appearance of products that Libiran Woodworks had made from past contracts and transactions. Also stated earlier being the nature of the business is specializing on custom-ordered furniture, potential clients will also be presented with the choices on how their order can be made which includes but are not limited to the available kind of wood that will be used, the dimensions of the furniture and the color of the furniture. A customer feedback module will also be included in the program to answer the need of having customer feedback sent to the owner of the business by means of social media integration; in addition to common phone call, SMS or personal feedback, for continuous betterment of service. This will also provide testimonials to new prospect clients on the performance of the business which can help these prospect clients to decide if they will close a deal with Libiran Crafts and Woodworks or not and subsequently proving the good reputation of the business.

To provide the solutions that this study proposes, the proponent will use HTML5 and CSS3, PHP and JavaScript (jQuery library) programming languages to develop this system. HTML5, CSS3 and PHP will be used because the systems nature is Web-based. HTML5 will provide the framework of the website and CSS3 will be used to modify the on-screen presentation of the system due to its design-friendly features. PHP will be used due to the fact that a database is involved and PHP is the language that the proponent is comfortable in using for such implementations. Lastly, JavaScript (jQuery library) will be used to provide every user of the site to have a more interactive and fun experience when using the showroom feature of the system. For the hardware that will be used, any computer that can access the Internet and has the appropriate requirements for JavaScript content can be used.

As said earlier, the target of the business is to achieve popularity that will then help in gaining market share in the business of furniture-making here in Valenzuela, the whole of Metro Manila and provinces around Metro Manila such as those found in Central Luzon and Southern Luzon. Thus, it was thought of by the proponents to propose a web-based solution for this particular need of the said business.

The system can also provide the following advantages: Uploading of photos that feature the drawing of the desired appearance of the ordered furniture if there is any for reference Provide an audit trail to help the owner in monitoring the systems activities Help the owner in assessing the trend and current supply order needs of the business thru the database that the order and furniture customization module will provide Noted by:
