Qualification
On successful completion of the programme you will be awarded a BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care

students will be able to reflect critically upon their own personal values, those of related professions and the practise setting. Planning and Managing Resources The module aims to develop a basic knowledge of how quantitative information aids management in resource planning, controlling and decision making. These skills can be used in a variety of contexts within healthcare environments. Working Collaboratively The purpose of this module is to enable you to become aware of the importance of multi-professional and inter-professional team working, operating in a collaborative way and being an effective member of the team.

Preparation: you will be required to submit a project proposal, showing that you have made informed decisions about your intended topic via an action inquiry model. Implementation: you will implement your proposed change to working practice and evaluate the effectiveness of this change.

Level 6
Leadership Practice in Health and Social Care This module will empower you to develop the necessary leadership skills in order to become a facilitator and motivator of change in the workplace. The focus is upon contemporary theories of leadership such as transformational leadership, distributive and leaderful practice and the notions which underpin leadership such as personal dispositions, values and skills. Supporting Learning within the Clinical Environment This module focuses on the opportunity afforded by the health and social care environment for a rich learning experience, the role of experience in enhancing learning, sharing practice within a care setting, and the role of assessment. Research Methodology: Design and Process With the increased emphasis on research based practice over the last decade, it is essential that established practitioners who wish to undertake further educational programmes are conversant with research methodology and the application of theory to practice in their field. Undergraduate Major Project The individual final project module allows students to engage in a substantial piece of individual research and/or product development work, focussed on a topic relevant to their specific discipline. The topic may be drawn from a variety of sources including: Anglia Ruskin research groups, previous/current work experience, the company in which they are currently employed, an Anglia Ruskin lecturer suggested topic or a professional subject of their specific interest (if suitable supervision is available).

Course Description
The aim of this course is to enable you to develop your expertise in critically appraising practice in the health and social care arena from an inter-professional and contemporary perspective. Some modules may address the wider societal and political influences that impact on health and social care. The course will equip you with the skills of critical reflection and evaluation so that you are able to lead/facilitate advanced and innovative practice within the health and social care context.

Level 5
Managing People and Processes Every manager or team leader has a responsibility for human resource (HR) management; it is not the sole domain of the HR specialist. This module is designed to give students an insight into human resource management functions and issues. Effective Care Planning The module will enable you to develop and extend your caring skills through structured reflection on current practice. The module applies the key themes of effective communication; advocacy and empowerment in a range of care settings. Research and Critical Thinking The module is designed to develop your awareness of the need to underpin professional practice by the use of published research and up to date evidence. This is a key requirement of two major registering bodies within health care, the HCPC and NMC as evidenced by their Codes of Standards and Conduct. It is an important skill for both students and emergent practitioners within health and social care as you develop their knowledge and skills towards registration. Work Based Learning 2 This module enables you to broaden or deepen your understanding of a given relevant work based topic through undertaking a project using self directed learning. The module experience will comprise of two phases: preparation and implementation.

Level 4
Higher Education and Work Students entering higher education will need specific study skills to enable them to maximise their learning potential and take advantage of opportunities available both in the academic setting and workplace. The module is intended to be both preparatory and supportive building a strong foundation for learning and later development. Valuing People and Fostering Dignity and Respect This module will equip you with an informed and insightful understanding of the centrality of the individual in health and social care settings. Understanding of ethical principles is essential when caring for individuals and fostering dignity and respect. This module will provide an important foundation from which

Assessment
You will complete 10 assessments of 5,000 to 6,000 words each, comprising a mixture of reports, case studies essays and portfolios. You will also complete a visual presentation with a written commentary for module number 2, and a large report of 10,000 words for your final module.

Duration of Programme
This course is expected to be completed within 4.5 years. However, our online distance learning students have flexibility in setting their own pace of study, which means that the course can be completed in a minimum period of 3 years.

Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs at grade C or above of which 2 must be in English and Maths You must be employed in a health and social care context with at least one year full time or equivalent part-time experience You must give evidence of personal, professional and educational experience so that you may meet the academic and practice demands of the programme English language ability to an IELTS score of 6.0, or equivalent. International students wishing to access this pathway must possess a health and social care related qualification as outlined above.

Workload
We recommend an average of 12 hours study time per week for this programme.
