Trim and insulating panels for the commercial vehicle industry made of sustainable raw materials
HAPPICH Fahrzeug- und Industrieteile GmbH develop and produce a wide range of interior trim parts in various material combinations for the commercial vehicle industry, mainly for applications in buses and trucks: made of sustainable raw materials recyclable in accordance with internationally specified quality, safety and environmental standards HAPPICH have had many years of experience with light-weight trim components, in particular with components supplied to the commercial vehicle industry for massproduction. Modular construction parts and bonding systems are used to provide thermal and acoustic insulating properties on the one hand while on the other hand their wide scope styling solutions in visible areas is enhanced by a multitude of decorative surfaces achieved by laminating many different textiles, leatherettes and foils.

For partially encapsulating engine compartments in commercial vehicles HAPPICH develop and manufacture various high and low temperature resistant noise deadening panels made of special material blends. These noise reduction panels are normally situated between the drivers cab (which tilts on cab-over-engine trucks) and the engine compartment whereby the panels, however, are always firmly attached to the cabs. (Refer to sketch on folding leaf.)

Noise deadening panels fulfil two functions: On the one hand absorb annoying engine noise to a very great extent, on the other they insulate the cab interior against unwanted heat transfer generated by an idling or running engine. The basic used to manufacture thermal insulation and anti-noise panels are basalt rock wool, cotton and carbon fibre which have excellent properties with respect to thermal stability.

If there is a specific customer requirement SMC can be used as a carrier insert in the one-shot moulding process. The following example shows how effective thermal insulation can be when a noiseabsorbing panel is attached to the vehicle: While it has been ascertained that temperatures of up to 630 C can be generated by a heavy truck running at maximum engine performance, the temperature of the cab floor can be reduced to roughly

30 C by installing a noise-deadening panel with its additional function as a heat deflector. The high-performance presses used to manufacture these panels have a maximum compressing force of 1,000 tons. The compression moulding process is carried out at temperatures of up to 200 C. The large surface area laminating press with its table measuring 2 x 3 m makes it possible to laminate the surfaces of carrier inserts close to these dimensions.
