RESOLJITION In order to assess the present status of Sanskrit education in all its aspects and to integrate traditional Sanskrit knowledge into the modern system of' education, it is hereby resolved to appoint Second Sanskrit Commission with the following scholars:- 1. The terms of reference of the Commission ~ be- Member Member Member Member Member Member-Secretary l. To undertake a sunrcy of the existing facilities for Sanskrit Educntion in Schools, Colleges, Universities and other institutions and to sugl,!:cst remedial measures for promoting the study of Sanskrit at all levels, inch;dinh research; ii. To examine the traditional system of Sanskrit Education in orcll'r to find out whnt features from it could be usefully incorporated into the modern system; m. To suggest measures to integrate S;.mskrit studies v.ith other disciplines like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medical Science, Lw.. Architecture, Languages etc., to make them more relevant to modern times; iv. To suggest measures for non-formal or distance education system for Sanskrit; v. To suggest ways and means to use new methods of imparting Sanskrit Education with the help of modern tools; vi. To devise means for setting up of translation bureau in Universities and institutions of higher learning for translating Sanskrit works in regional languages and v;ce-vcrsa; and vii. To suggest road map for upgrading the Rnshtriya Sanskrit Sansthan into an institution of National Importance. 3 The Commission may:- (a) obtain such information as they may consider useful for or relevant to determine any matter under their consideration whether by asking for written memoranda or by examining witnesses or in such form and in such mnnner as they may consider appropriate, from the Central Government, the State Governments, and such other organizations, institutions or individuals m: may, m the opinion of the Commission, be of assistance to them; (b) regulate their own procedure, including the fixing of places and time of their sittings and deciding whether to sit in public or in camera; (c) appoint such and so many Sub-Committees from amongst their memhcrs to exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be dclcgnted to them by the Commission; (d) visit or depute any of their Sub-Committees to visit such parts of the territory of India as they consider necessary or expedient; (e) act, notwithstanding the temporary absence of any member nr tlw existence of any vacancy among the members; and (f) co-opt experts to assist the Commission in its Sub-Committees. 4. Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan v.ill provide the necessary secretarial assistance to the Commission and would meet the expenditure on its meetings including TA/DA of the members, as per Govt. of India Rules and Regulations. s.
