INTRODUCTION
Tata Motors Limited, Indias largest automobile company, is the leader by far in commercial vehicles in each segment, and the second largest in the passenger vehicles market with winning products in the compact, mid-size car and utility vehicle segments. The company is the worlds fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer. Established in 1945, Tata Motors presence indeed cuts across the length and breadth of India. Close to 4 million Tata vehicles ply on Indian roads, since the first rolled out in 1954. The companys manufacturing base is spread across Jamshedpur, Pune and Lucknow, supported by a nation-wide dealership, sales, services and spare parts network comprising over 2,000 touch points. Their annual turnover last year was Rs. 27,000 crores. The companys 24,000 employees are guided by the vision to be best in the manner in which they operate, best in the products they deliver and best in their value system and ethics. One of the key sectors of growth in Industry in recent times has been automotive manufacturing.

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN MARKETING


Tata Motors Limited is Indias one of the top players in the passenger cars segment with a dedicated and ever-increasing dealer distributor network across countries. The vendor extranet for Tata Motors passenger cars service marketing department was developed as a step in the integration of marketing processes and management of relevant information across market functions.

Project Requirement
An effective software solution needed to be developed for the passenger cars service marketing department of Tata Motors that would cater to the requirements of Officers and the vendors of the Company at the same time. Officers need to view the different MIS reports on product off take details by dealers and details of training conducted by vendors for Tata Motors Dealers. On the other hand the vendor extranet module would also help the vendors of Tata Motors to enter dealer data in a categorized manner after logging into the module and obtaining permission for feeding in information. The admin module would be used at two levels: one at the Head Office level (HO) and the second at the Regional Office level (RO) user. While HO users will be able to streamline a number of functions, RO users will only be able to view reports of their region.

Siebel Automotive has been closely integrated with a wide array of back-office applications, including applications for inventory management, fulfilment, and parts location. Pricing and tax calculations can be adjusted for each dealers requirements. In addition, comprehensive sales and reporting functionality built into Siebel Automotive enables Tata to distribute sales targets to its dealers and roll up sales numbers across the country. The Siebel CRM solution will enable Tata Motors to gather feedback on products to improve design or manufacturing quality as well as measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and programs. The automaker selected Siebel Automotive because of its partner management capabilities to handle its large dealer network, the solutions zero-footprint web-based architecture and user-friendly interface-critical to support thousands of salespeople with various skill levels. MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM IN FINANCE DEPARTMENT


Finance department implemented IT software by developing IT Solution. In TATA, all accounting information is handled by all accounting heads. In this regard, the MIS of Tata provides options that enhance the accounting operations and regulations of the company. The MIS provides options that enhance the accounting tasks of the organization, allowing them to react immediately and properly to the industry needs and developments. MIS in finance department used for monthly accounts of transactions, for making journal and ledger, for making

P/L a/c and balance sheet, for finding monthly return and statement processing and for other accounting documents also. For some of the statement and documents Tata uses Microsoft Office Accounting Express software. For cash related things Tata uses Turbo Cash. Tata also uses Tally for recording transactions related to cash and keep updating Tally software as new version of Tally launch. To secure its accounting documents and other documents related finance Tata uses NOD 32 Anti-virus and Norton Anti-virus. A ready-made software with built in-integration called as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is used which integrates all department including Finance Department across the company. Tata Motors implemented SAP R/3 as an ERP package which is used across the organization. My SAP helps in improving the management of enterprise assets.

TATA MOTORS OPERATION INFRASTRUCTURE


Tata motors is eighth largest motor vehicle manufacturer by volume in the world. Currently its headquarters located in Mumbai. Tata motors needs huge IT infrastructure since there are 42 local head offices across India and 30 spare parts ware house, 6 major plants located across country. To co-ordinate among them it need huge IT infrastructure. By looking at need there after start the implementation of ERP. Since SAP is pioneer in providing IT solutions so TATA motors used SAP for implementing ERP solutions at various departments. The basic aim of it is to co-ordinate among various terminals such as warehouse, local head offices, plants, with corporate head offices. IT has made the functionalities more easily compared to the time when it was not implemented. Since it is pioneer in providing customer service so each customer data base has been stored in IT infrastructure and used according to need. For sustainable IT infrastructure it needs to meet the growing demands of recent times and upgraded according to requirement.

Human Resource is the process of acquiring, training, appraising & compensating employment. It is concerned with employees both as individual and as a group.
