East Bay Immigrant Youth Coalition [EBIYC] Undocumented and Unafraid Scholarship
Mission: The EBIYC seeks to empower and organize with the undocumented immigrant community with the goal to mobilize and escalate an d attain transformative change in the San Francisco Bay Area. Grounded in radical actions, we believe in taking direct action and practice civil disobediences. We create organizers instead of activists, because organizers make the social movement sustainable. We do not identify as Dreamers or Americans. Our goal is to organize against deportations, and fight back until our community recovers the rights that have been stolen. Purpose of the Scholarship: As EBIYC our work centralizes in bringing awareness about the unjust deportations and increasing young peoples political conciousness. We also want to give back to the community by supporting our youth. We know that one of the biggest obstacles to pursuing a college education is financial burden, therefore with this scholarship we hoep to alleviate that burden. The student recipient will receive $500 Requirements: 1) Be an undocumented student, 2) Currently a College or High School student in Alameda, Contra Costa, or San Francisco County 3) Be able to attend the award ceremony on Friday, February 28. 4) Submit 2 page written essay response
Note: organizing experience is not required, acceptance or eligibility to Deferred Action is not required. Undocufolks with disabilities, UndocuQueers, and UndocuTrans are highly encouraged to attend.
