SOC 2 Preparing for Action - This workshop is ideal for people who are ready to begin planning and preparing for employment or training. Participants will be offered the tools needed to manage stress and access supports. Participants will leave armed with confidence and new resources, ready to take action toward their employment or training goals. Introduction to Choice Theory - This 2-hour interactive workshop will get people thinking about what is most important to them when making choices, and reflect on how to select more effective behaviours in order to get what they want. It will encourage clients to accept personal responsibility for making positive change in their lives. Discussion will also include healthy relationship habits. Four- Part Series of Traditional Sweetgrass Teachings with Elder Archie Weenie - This series of teachings will discuss situations that people face during change that can create barriers to success. The format is conversational, with soup and bannock offered to keep the atmosphere comfortable and sociable. There will be room for personal consultation afterward, if required by any participants. Beading & Moccasin Classes - These beadwork sessions are a series of 6, with each class leading into the next project. The 1 to 4 classes will cover th th moccasins, while the 5 and 6 will focus on lanyards. All sessions will last 3 hours and have an instructor on hand to provide group instruction, as well as one-on-one support where required. Lindell Haywahe is our instructor, and she will be utilizing the sacred teachings (honesty, humility, truth, respect, wisdom, love, and bravery) in conjunction with her instruction. The beadings classes will help instil confidence, pride and work ethic, which can have an enduring effect and lead to sustainability in employment. Using a Flash Drive - During this computer lab tutorial, clients will learn the basics of flash drive use (aka: thumb drive, memory stick), including opening and saving documents, attaching files to email messages, and properly removing the device when finished. There are 4 rounds to a sweat and during each one, hot rocks are added to the fire in order to maintain the atmosphere, while prayers are conducted by an elder. A Sweat can be used as a tool for personal growth, and help to open spiritual doors for a person. Individuals may choose to leave at any time if the Sweat environment becomes too much for them.
